Professional footballer Kalidou Koulibaly represents the Senegal national team and plays centre defence for Premier League club Chelsea.

Talking about his parents, Kalidou Koulibaly was born to a Senegalese mom and dad in Saint-Die-des-Vosges, France, on June 20, 1991.

Before he had enough money to send his mom to France, his dad spent five years working seven days a week in a textile mill in Senegal.

In Saint-Die-des-Vosges, he was raised. Before entering the youth system of professional club Metz on July 1, 2009, Koulibaly started his career playing for the youth squad of his local club SR Saint-Die.

He did so for two seasons while competing for the club in the Championnat de France Amateur 2. During his time at Metz, Koulibaly contributed to the club’s under-19 team’s victory over Sochaux in the 2009–10 Coupe Gambardella.

He was selected for Senegal’s 23-man squad in January 2022 for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. Senegal won and helped his country by scoring the first penalty against Egypt in the final.
