The player transferred to the University of Kentucky in 1994.
In the 1994–95 season, Vogel was the student manager for Rick Pitino’s Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team.
He earned a B.S. in biology from the University of Kentucky in 1998.

Vogel went on to work as an assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers after coaching with Boston.
Then, he left the 76ers to become an advance scout for the Los Angeles Lakers from 2005 to 2006 and the Washington Wizards from 2006 to 2007.
The coach then worked as an assistant coach for the Indiana Pacers, reporting to former Celtics colleague Jim O’Brien.
