Eric Wynalda Married Amanda Fletcher After Divorcing First Wife Amy Ward

Eric Wynalda was married to his first wife Amy Ward for twelve years. Amy Ward Wynalda is a former soccer player who played at San Diego State University.

Eric and Amy started seeing each other on July 1, 1989. Wynalda and Amy were married on Sunday, July 7, 1996, after dating for seven years, and went on their honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico.

Born on July 1, 1971, Amy is 51 years old, and so is her twin brother, Tim Ward. Her brother worked at Pepperdine as an assistant women’s soccer coach. She is a certified personal trainer and was a star soccer player in high school.

Five months after their wedding, they were vacationing in Miami at Doral Golf Resort and Spa. The two would hit the exercise room with Amy walking on the treadmill. However, their marriage life started to crumble as rumors of his wife Amy cheating on him surfaced on the paparazzi with John Harkes. 

Two years after their marriage, his ex-wife cheated on him with John Harkes in 1998. The news was made more devastating by the fact that Harkes was his teammate, and they fooled around in their house. Not only that but it was later revealed they had done in near the playpen of their young child.

For ten years, they cohabitated as husband and wife, even after Eric had heard rumors about Amy that were less than flattering. The relationship between Eric and Amy did not work out well despite this. And in 2008, they decided to split up and walk on separate paths. They have three kids together.

Eric firmly maintained privacy in every aspect of the case. The public was never made aware of the facts, and speculation was all that was constructed.

However, the former head coach of Las Vegas Lights FC came out in 2010 about why his relationship with his ex-wife ended. During one of his episodes on Fox Football Fone-In, Wynalda, speaking on John Terry’s illicit affair, said he was a victim of a similar incident in 1998.

In 1998, just a few months before the FIFA World Cup, the US head coach at that time, Steve Sampson, left the team’s captain John Harkes out of the squad traveling for the World Cup in France. 

Eric said John Harkes had “an inappropriate relationship” with his wife Amy, and because of that, Sampson dropped Harkes out of the squad from the World Cup squad. After more than ten years of being silent in public, Sampson confirmed the alleged affair was the main reason he removed Harkes.

His three kids with his first wife, Amy Ward, are 23-year-old Brooke, 20-year-old Tim and 17-year-old Tatum. Their daughter Brooke is studying to be a pediatric oncologist at Seattle University.

Tim became a Lights’ equipment manager after taking up online classes. He is good with card tricks and is nicknamed card tricks “El Mago” because of it.

Tatum Wynalda followed in their footsteps to become a soccer star. Both Eric and Amy are former soccer players. He has three children from his marriage with Amy, which lasted for twelve years.

While his five kids lived with him in Las Vegas, Tatum lived with her mother, Amy, during high school. This allowed her to continue playing for Real So Cal.

Tatum prefers having her own identity in soccer rather than people knowing her because of his father or mother. She began her voyage in soccer at an early age when she started playing soccer at Pepperdine University, where her uncle Tim Ward was a head coach then.

Since playing for her high school, Tatum has been doing great in the field. The Westlake High School forward netted 28 goals and bagged nine assists this season. 

Eric’s daughter claims that nowadays, most officials and occasionally an opposition team’s coach remember her surname because of her father’s successes. She wants to forge her soccer personality separate from her father’s, but Tatum also recognizes that her soccer history has given her tremendous respect for the sport.

She knows the legacy her father has built is enormous, and she has to do more than that to solidify her image in the game. However, that does not implies she is hopeless. Tatum recognizes that her father established a high standard, and she will always strive to emulate him as an inspiration.

Eric, with his wife and six kids lived in the Westlake Village neighborhood. He has three kids with his current wife, Amanda, and three from his previous marriage with Amy. Eric’s children are obsessed with soccer as they grow up with their father.

Their daughter Blake is seven, Elliotte is six and Braeden is 13 years old. Braeden plays baseball.

In November 2018, their house was also caught in one of the deadliest wildfires ever in California. Following the incident, their entire house burned into flamed and turned into dust. Wynalda and his family had sought refuge with relatives in California.

But it happened so quickly that their children had to move out of their school and enroll at another school in the middle of the academic year. It made his wife Amanda a little bit sad for their kids. “We didn’t want so much to change in their lives,” she said.

And even more, when Eric is out of home because of his games, Amanda must deal with everything alone. Their children, Tatum and Braeden, are both in sports, playing soccer. When the time allows, and they are all free, Amanda takes them to their father, Eric, to meet him.
