Frank Gore Jr Family Has A Sports Background With A Long Line Of Athletes

Frank Gore Jr parents Frank Gore Sr and Shasta Smith welcomed him in Miami before they divorced.

Though his parents are separated, the running back shares a strong attachment to both his mom and dad. He grew up in Miami with his mother and attended his father, Frank Gore Sr's training sessions during his stay at the San Francisco 49ers.

When Frank Gore Jr was born, his dad was only 19 years old and was high off winning the national title with Miami. But the footballer continued his footballing journey, which led him to be inducted into NFL's 2010 All-Decade Team.

A third-round pick, Frank Gore made sure not to burden his son in following his legacy. In an interview, the New York Jets running back made sure that his child would fall in love with the more organically than having to pressure him to play the game.

But like every athlete dad, Frank Sr does have regrets over not being there for his son in his growing years. It was only in 2018 that he realized his son had grown into a replica of his when it came to his playing style. 

Frank Jr spent most of his childhood with his mother, Shasta Smith. On his Instagram handle, the running back shared a post for his ma on the occasion of mother's day.

In 2020, Shasta was awarded a modified child support payment from Frank Gore Sr. She had previously filed a petition in 2014 as well and had won the case.

The father-son duo could not spend much time together as Frank Gore Sr would be busy with his hectic schedule at the 49ers and Colts. And it was only after joining Miami Dolphins that Frank Gore Sr could be close to home with his son.

Frank would take his son in the training room and lounges as a child, but Gore Jr wasn't interested in all that jazz. He only wanted to look at the training sessions and imagined fulfilling his dad's shoes someday. 

In 2012, Gore Jr tasted what it was like to appear in the media as he sat on his dad's lap as he gave a post-match interview. The two are similar when it comes to looks as well as their physicality. 

Earlier this year, the father-son duo featured in Whistle's youtube video, which has now gained 1 million views on YouTube. In the video, the two are seen pushing each other to their limits to find out who is the better running back. 

Though it looked like Jr came at the top from the showcase, he will forever consider his dad the best football player. 

Gore Sr was a running back who stood at 5ft 9, and now Frank Gore Jr is also a running back who stands at 5ft 8. In 2019 from his Twitter handle, Gore Jr also thanked his papa for helping him make an important decision related to his football career.

He tweeted that Gore Sr made the right call by making him stay at Killian with Coach Payne. With Frank Gore Jr continuing to make waves in college football, it's for sure that Gore Sr couldn't be much prouder about his son. 

Frank Gore Jr mother Shasta Smith raised him singlehandedly in Miami after divorcing Frank Sr. 

Gore Jr was four years old when Gore Sr filed a petition for child custody, child support, and establishing paternity. He had turned six by the time an agreement was reached between his parents in 2008.

Shasta Smith did receive child support payments from Frank Gore Sr. They were court cases in 2014 and 2020 to increase the payments due to the rise in inflation and also because Gore Sr substantially increased his wealth.

Shasta would always fill her son with the belief that he was made special and has always been his biggest role model. After Gore Jr decided to move from his hometown, Shasta continued to relay the message that he should always be himself. 

His coaches have praised the 20-year-old for being a humble and down-to-earth kid, which is no longer seen as said by them. So if it weren't for Shasta's nurturing, this probably wouldn't have been possible.

Shasta took up various jobs to keep the house running and tried to make ends meet though her earnings had always been below minimum wage. In 2020, she filed a petition for an increase in child support which she won against her former husband. 

Frank Gore Jr comes from a family with a footballing background including cousins who are former and current players. 

His dad, as well all know, is the famous running back of the early 2000s in the NFL. Though Gore Jr did have a difficult childhood, it was much harder for his father.

Born dyslexic, Frank Gore Sr was raised by single mother Lizzie, who claimed her life in 2007 after she struggled with addiction for years. 

His dad's cousins include names such as Shaquille Cooper, Shakur Cooper and Gilbert Frierson. Gilbert is the defensive back for the University of Miami Athletics and is a fifth-year redshirt junior. 

Gilbert's latest game was against Bethune-Cookman on September 3, 2022, in which he made two tackles and one interception. Shakur Cooper is the former linebacker of Florida International University and, like Gilbert, attended Coral Gables high school.

Shaquille Copper previously played for Edmonton Eskimos for two seasons in the Canadian Football League and currently plays for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. 

Frank Gore Jr brothers Ricardo Hallman and Demetrius are both football players. 

Ricardo is younger than him by one year and is nineteen years old. He and Demetrius share an age gap of three years and is seventeen.

Ricardo Hallman is the stepson of Frank Gore Sr from his partner Vondricka Ballard. Only last week, he won the Rookie of the year award for the Wisconsin Badgers for whom he plays defensive back.

The player of Badgers is also highly supportive of step-brother Frank Gore Jr and is always sending out supportive tweets. On December 18, as Frank Jr set an all-time bowl record in Southern Miss he tweeted out saying, "The Greatest."
