Fox Sports Commentator Jenny Taft and her husband, Matt Gilroy, have been in a relationship for 12 years. In these 12 years, they experienced parenthood once.

Jenny Taft and her husband, Matt Gilroy, met for the first time at Boston University in 2010. They tied the knot six years later and welcomed their daughter Gigi, 12 years later.

Currently, Jenny is far from her husband and daughter as she is on her commentary duties in Qatar for FOX. But living apart for a few days or even a few months is not a new thing for the couple.

From 2014-2018, Matt lived and played hockey in Russia as opportunities to grow his hockey career in NHL started to swell. So 29 days surely isn't going to feel long for Jenny and Matt.

Fox Sports commentator Jenny Taft and her husband, Matt Gilroy, are college sweethearts. After dating for five years, the couple decided to tie the knot in 2016.

A sports anchor marrying an athlete is not a new thing in the sports world. But it was before gaining notoriety from their respective professionals that Jenny and Matt's love story began.

If Jenny was working on her journalism degree then Matt was trying to break into the hockey team at the coveted Boston University. It was there that the two crossed paths in 2010.

The couple continued their relationship as they made breakthroughs in their fields. Jenny joined the Fox Sports commentary team and Matt steadied his career in NHL. A year before dating Jenny, Matt signed a professional contract with New York Rangers that had everyone talking about his bright career ahead.

Six after dating each other, the couple decided to tie the knot in 2016. The couple is now proud parents to a beautiful baby girl named, Gigi, who was born earlier this year in March. And before their daughter was born, Matt and Jenny were parents to their pet dog Otis who has been a loyal big brother to Gigi.

Jenny has a huge social media presence both on Twitter and Instagram. But the commentator has decided to keep her married life out of the public eye. Matt has decided to keep his Instagram account private.

The commentator has never shared a photo with her husband, Matt but has a few with her recently born daughter, Gigi. Even on Twitter, Jenny hardly ever mentions her husband.

Jenny Taft Husband Played Hockey

Matt Gilroy, the husband of Jenny Taft, is a former hockey player who played for four NHL franchises. At one point, Gilroy even played hockey in Russia.

The son of Frank Gilroy and Peggy Ann began his hockey journey as a defenceman for the Terriers in 2005. But he did have some experience in some minor leagues prior to joining Boston University.

An article published on him in 2009 by the New York Times titled him a late bloomer. After all, Matt, who went undrafted, decided to stay back and complete his degree in Boston, declining interests from several NHL sides.

Gilroy in his final season with Terriers captained his side and also won the Beanpot tournament. The reason he was featured in NY Times was for his nomination for Hobey Baker Award, and three months after that article was published, Matt went on to win the trophy.

Matt made his NHL debut with New York Rangers in 2009 and stayed with them until the end of the 2010 season. His second team was Tampa Bay Lightning but was then traded to Ottawa Senators.

A brief stint at the Senators was then, followed by a move to Connecticut Whale, the AHL team, and then back to NHL with Florida Panthers. In no way possible, Gilroy's NHL career was as promising as his college career. To save his flailing hockey career, Matt moved to the Russian side, Moscow Oblast Atlant.

He played in Russia for four years, with his last team being Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, before he returned to the US. Gilroy is currently an assistant coach of U-17 NTDP, USA Hockey Team.

Jenny Taft Husband Comes From Family of Athletes

Jenny Taft and her husband, Matt Gilroy, are parents to daughter Gigi. Their daughter might try her hand at hockey because of her father's genetics.

Matt Gilroy and his family have a long history with hockey and generally with sports. His father, Frank Gilroy, was skilled in hockey and basketball.

In 1981, Frank Gilroy was drafted by the NBA team Philadelphia 76ers. He was an eighth-round pick but sadly never got to taste what it was like to play in the NBA.

Frank never played in the NBA, let alone get inducted into the Hall of Fame, but his local team noted his contribution to the game. He received an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship from St John Basketball and was later inducted as a member of the Hall of Fame.

Frank and his wife Ann were parents to eight children, and Matt was not the only athlete in the family. His older brother Frank Jr followed in their father's footsteps and played basketball in his youth with St Mary's High School and later with St. Anslem college.

And if his older brother followed his father, Matt's younger brother followed him. Kevin joined Matt at Boston University in his final year.
