Lavoy Finicum's real name is Robert “LaVoy” Finicum. He was born on January 27, 1961, in Kanab, Utah.

Finicum was an Arizona rancher who became the spokesman for the armed occupation. He participated in the weeks-long occupation of the wildlife refuge alongside Ammon Bundy and other armed anti-government protesters.

Lavoy Finicum has a four-part documentary in his name, which has been titled “LaVoy – Dead Man Talking”.

Released in 2018, it was produced by Mark Herr of the Center for Self Governance, and Jeanette Finicum.

Finicum was on the radar of law enforcement officers. He was traveling on a remote highway to meet with his supporters. After a roadblock, the militant's vehicle went into deep snow, he yelled for the police to shoot him. Consequently, he was killed.

A video from the FBI suggested that Finicum was fleeting the traffic stop. He escaped for more than 70 miles before smashing his vehicle into a snowbank. He tried escaping his pickup with his raised hands. Several times, he told police to shoot him.

Finicum was discovered with a loaded 9mm handgun in his pocket, which he reached out for more than thrice. Ultimately, he was shot by an OSP trooper. 

In March 2016, an investigation by the local law enforcement agencies suggested that the shooting was necessary.

Lavoy Finicum was married to Jeanette Finicum from 1994, until his death in 2016. The couple had been raising eleven children together.

He made living as a foster parent and was operating a no-income cattle ranch.

Altogether he had been raising nine daughters and two sons. The names of the daughters are; Danielle, Tawny, Brittney, Tell, Tean, Thara, Arianna, Challice, and Belle. His two sons are Thomas Kinne and Robert C. Finicum. 

Lavoy Finicum Wife: Where Is Jeanette Finicum Now?

Lavoy Finicum's widow, Jeanette Finicum had filed a wrongful death lawsuit in the year 2018. 

However, In 2021, the court dismissed the lawsuit filed over the police killing of the Malheur occupation leader. 

According to the LA Times, Jeanette now manages 80 cattle on her family's 16,000-acre federal grazing allotment, known as "Tuckup," in remote northern Arizona.
