Leylah Fernandez's Parents Sacrificed Much For Their Three Daughters
Leylah Fernandez's parents, Irene and Jorge Fernandez, raised two athletes and a dentist. Leylah was born on 6 September 2002.
Her parent's oldest daughter, Jodeci Malixi, is a dentist. Their two youngest daughters, Leylah Fernandez and Bianca, are tennis players.
Jorge is a former Canadian football player of Ecuadorian origin. Fernandez participated in Montreal's neighborhood leagues as a semi-pro football player. He has never played in a professional tennis competition but has coaching expertise. He was the one who trained his daughters from an early age, assisting them in achieving this position in their careers.
Leylah claimed that her parents made sacrifices for her tennis success throughout her youth. Jorge decided to train Leylah after a local tennis club turned her down and thought she was too little to be successful. Jorge, a former professional soccer player, had never played tennis before, but he learned as much as possible from books and videos.

Leylah's mother, Irene, was born in Canada to parents of Philippino origin. She met her husband in Canada and later married to start a beautiful family of five. The family is close to each other and often spends quality time whenever the situation favors them. However, the problem wasn't the same during their early days.
Despite their tight relationship, Leylah's family went through some challenging times. When she was ten years old, her mother spent several years working in California while Jorge was Leylah and Bianca's coach.
Irene and Leylah's relationship suffered as a result of the separation, as Leylah ached for her mother. They maintain a healthy relationship despite fast activities, and she always remembers her mother as one who helped her gain this height in her career.
