Luke Hughes parents Jim And Ellen Hughes raised him in Manchester. Jim was born in Hicksville while his mother Ellen hails from St Louis.

Jim was born on October 26, 1966, while Ellen was born on July 8, 1968, in Missouri. The couple has been blessed with three sons, who have seen success in ice hockey from a young age.

Jim Hughes Is An Ice Hockey Assistant Coach

Jim Hughes is a former college player for Providence College. He was also the team captain

Hughes was the director of player development for the Toronto Maple Leafs for six years, from 2009-10 to 2014-15. He also held the position of an assistant coach for the Boston Bruins.

Ellen Hughes Is A Former Player

Ellen Weinberg-Hughes is an American former ice hockey player. She participated in international competitions for the US women’s national team. 

The mother of three won a silver medal and earned a spot on the all-star squad for the event at the 1992 Women’s World Championship. In addition, she participated in soccer, lacrosse, and hockey while attending the University of New Hampshire.

Ellen was inducted into UNH Athletic HOF in 2012. Hughes worked at UNH as an assistant coach for the ice hockey and soccer teams after her playing career while still pursuing her master’s degree.

In 1994, she was appointed an advisor to Norway’s women’s hockey team.

Luke Hughes has two siblings Quinn and Jack Hughes. He is the youngest among his brothers.

He is the newest name in the ice hockey game from the Hughes household. His brother Quinn and Jack have shined in this game like his folks. 

The 19-year-old is four years younger than his eldest sibling and two years smaller than his second brother. The three Hughes grew up together playing different sports.

His Brother Quinn Plays For Vancouver Canucks

Quinn has already been successful in his career. He plays as a defenseman for the Vancouver Canucks in the NHL.

The Canucks selected Hughes sixth overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Hughes was born in Orlando, Florida, on October 14, 1999.

The 23-year-old Orlando native joined the University of Michigan for the 2017–18 season after completing the USA Hockey National Team Development Program successfully.

He was selected to the All-Big Ten Rookie Team and the All-Big Ten Second Team after setting a new mark for the most assists by a Michigan freshman defense there. 

His Second Sibling Jack Plays In NHL

Jack Hughes has also made his mark in NHL. Jack is a professional ice hockey center for the New Jersey Devils.

He is also named the alternate captain of the team.

Hughes was first drafted into the NHL by the New Jersey Devils via the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Born on May 14, 2001, in Orlando, Florida, he is currently 21.

Jack and his brother were added to the senior United States team for the 2019 IIHF World Championship on May 1, 2019.

Luke Hughes comes from a family of five athletes. Coming from a household with a rich sports background he has immens expectations on his shoulders.

The Hughes’ are scattered most of the time, considering all of them play for different teams in different places. However, they are together during the holidays and vacations.

The Hughes were on vacation in New Hampshire in 2018. Hughes’ like to celebrate their birthdays together. They celebrated Ellen’s birthday on July 8, 2019.

Quinn posted a picture of the three siblings with their father, Jim, on a boat on his birthday in June 2021. All five of them were together during the Covid lockdown in 2020. We can see the three brothers gardening with their mother in an Instagram post from Luke in May 2020.

They enjoyed the quality time when Luke was drafted in 2021.
