Nicola underwent immunotherapy and chemotherapy treatments which made her cancer-free in 2018. However, she is still not free of follicular lymphoma.
Due to the risk of the cancer returning, the former Facebook executive continued immunotherapy even after becoming cancer free. But, she had to stop the treatment because of the covid pandemic.
Further, Nicola couldn’t initially vaccinate against covid because of her weakened immunity from cancer. She was tested negative for antibodies, forcing her to work from home for two years.
She finally developed enough antibodies to get a covid vaccine in February 2022. In the last few years, Mendelsohn’s health has improved significantly; however, she still has follicular lymphoma and the risks of the cancer returning.
