President Macron named Dussopt as Secretary of State to the Ministry of Public Action and Accounts on November 27, 2017, under the supervision of Minister Gérald Darmanin.

He was expelled from the Socialist Party not long after. He resigned from the National Assembly on December 24, 2017.

With colleague minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, he founded the new movement Territories of Progress in 2020.

He sat on the Economic Affairs Committee (2007-2009) and the Legal Affairs Committee in parliament.

In addition to his legislative duties, Dussopt was a member of Manuel Valls' campaign team for the Socialist Party's presidential primary in 2017.

Following the 2017 French parliamentary election, he was among a small group of lawmakers who voted against the Philippe government's budget plan for 2018.
