His father, Jim Parkinson, is a retired transport engineer, and his mother, Marjorie, is a retired care assistant. He has one brother, Simon, living in Scotland, and one sister, Debra, living in Yarm.

Parkinson's family moved from Chorley, Lancashire, to Teesside when Phil was ten. He started schooling at St Patrick's, Our Lady and St Bede's secondary school. His football journey started at St Patrick's and was the Teesside Junior Football Alliance.

His football skills and dedication were scouted by Southampton, and he moved at the age of 16. Later on, he debuts in the football league with the club Bury. His football career lasted 18 years, and he started a new managerial career.

As a manager of Wrexham's, Phil Parkinson earns an average salary of $8 million annually.

Wrexham signed a one-year contract with the football coach to manage club activity. He took the place of Dean Keates and earned $1.5million for his serving charge.

In the coronavirus pandemic, Keates is forecast to have a lower salary bill for the 2020-21 season; Hughes' predecessor paid 1,256,900 pounds last season.

A Hollywood duo, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, brought the club to Wrexham in 2021 and took control. They have spent a massive amount of money on the club and had an estimated net worth of $200 million.
