Rutger McGroarty dad Jim McGroarty is a former ice hockey player. Jim works as the general manager of Muskegon Lumberjacks.
Rutger’s parents also have a daughter named Molly McGroarty. His mom Cindy gave birth to Molly in 2002 and had her son two years after her first pregnancy in 2004.
The siblings are both into athletics as the older did gymnastic for 11 years, and the younger began playing ice hockey when he became old enough to put on skates and hasn’t stopped ever since.
The ice hockey player played two seasons with the NTDP and was the first player to play for the national development program from Nebraska. McGroarty committed to spending his collegiate career at the Michigan Wolverines, and Winnipeg Jets selected him in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
The athlete has also represented the United States at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics, the 2021 IIHF World U18 Championships, and the 2023 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. Rutger captained the team during the 2022 IIHF World U18 Championships.

Jim McGroarty is Rutger McGroarty dad who plays collegiate ice hockey at the University of Michigan.
Rutger’s father is a former professional ice hockey player who spent seven years as an active athlete before getting into a coaching career in 2003.
His first USHL position was as an assistant coach at the River City Lancers in the 2003-2004 season. Later, Lincoln Stars hired Jim as their head coach in 2007, where he coached for six years.
Furthermore, the elder McGroarty joined the Muskegon Lumberjacks as its general manager in the 2018/19 season. During his 11 years of USHL experience, his son followed him around and spent most of his free time at the USHL [Lincoln Stars] locker room, per The BioSteel All-American Game.
Rutger has been surrounded by influencing people. He had a source of advice at home and older players to look up to while growing up. Likewise, the collegiate athlete also has ambitious friends, Ashton Christman and Jackson Beach, with whom he practiced daily at the rink.

Rutger was born to parents Jim and Cindy Mcgoarty in Lincoln Nebraska on the 30th of March 2004.
Jim and Cindy tied the knot and exchanged wedding vows in 2002, and the 31st of August 2022 marked their 20th anniversary.

The couple also wishes each other on their birthdays. The athlete’s dad turned 50 on the 24th of April 2022, and his mom commemorates her birthday on the 8th of June every year.
