Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his girlfriend Hailey Summers are Ontario natives. The couple has been together since Shai moved to the US to pursue his basketball dreams.

Hailey graduated from St Mary High School, Canada, in 2017 and was already a star soccer player back home. Born to Ron Summers and Carolyn River, Hailey has two siblings, Taylor and Will.

And it’s not only their hometown that the two love birds have in common. Hailey, like her boyfriend, is an athlete. From 2017-2021 Summers played for the women’s soccer team at Albany.

On Instagram, she is available with the username @haileysummerss and has amassed 29.7k followers. The brunette turned 23 on October 23 last month, with Shai posting a birthday tribute on his Instagram handle.

The first time the couple was seen together on their social media handle was in 2017. The soccer player shared a cute photo with her basketballer boyfriend on her social media handle.

2017 also marked the year that Shai and Hailey both left Canada and moved to the US to continue their budding sports career. Shai joined Hamilton Heights in Tennessee and Hailey received a full scholarship ride to Albany.

Since then, the couple has appeared more than a dozen times on their respective handles, not shying away to show their love for each other.

They celebrated their sixth anniversary on August 23 after falling for each other during high school.

The Thunder’s star player posted a photo of him carrying Hailey on his back to his Instagram handle to mark their sixth year of being in love.

The eccentric basketball star, Shai’s quirky fashion style is matched by a more tone-down look from Hailey. If Shai loves attention, then Hailey prefers to keep it cool and simple.

Maybe this is why they say the opposite attracts. The two Canadians are now forging their respective career as athletes across the border, and they couldn’t be much more supportive of each other.

Hailey has previously attended the games of Thunders to cheer on her boyfriend, who has had a fantastic start to life in the NBA. The couple also shares a cute pet dog named Echo, who Shai calls the swaggiest pup ever.

Like her boyfriend Shai, Hailey is passionate about sports. Though it’s not basketball, it’s a sport growing massively in North America. 

The 23-year-old received a full scholarship ride to University at Albany, New York, for her soccer skills. Not only was she a star player at Albany, but she was also the leader of the pack.

In 2018, Hailey and her team became the America East Champions, with her making 23 appearances. And a year later, she was named the team captain.

In 2021, Hailey was named the team captain for the third year running and appeared in all seven games played that season. The year also marked her end as a soccer player at Albany, and since then, she hasn’t dropped any hints about whether she will continue her sports career.

But those five years she played at Albany had many highs for her. A defender, Hailey’s first goal came two years into her debut in 2019 against Cornell. She played 71 games in total for Albany, and her debut goal was her first and last goal for them.
