Skylar Thompson parents Brad Thompson and Teresa Thompson are native to Palmyra. Brad and Teresa raised him in a farmhouse.

Sports has been a massive part of Skyler’s family as he is a quarterback, and his father, Brad, is a former basketball coach. Although other members of his family have been engaged in different games, he has been the most prominent one so far.

He has three siblings, brothers Anthony and Eric, and sister Ashley. The quarterback for the Miami Dolphins has frequently credited his folks for his success in recent interviews and conferences.

His brother has followed in the 25-year-old’s footsteps and pursued his passion for American football.

Skylar Thompson lived with his parents Brad and Teresa Thompson until the age of six. 

His father, Brad, is a former basketball coach and principal. He was not the happiest when Skylar chose his passion for football at first but seeing his skills and promising talents, he could not stop his son from pursuing his dreams. 

Skylar and his mother Teresa shared a special bond and were always together during his early days. His father was usually busy because of his hectic work as a professor, coach, and principal.

He lost his mother, Teresa, to stage-four breast cancer when he was in class one. Skylar was starting out in Elementary school when he came to depend on his father after his mom passed away.

The 25-year-old quarterback for the Miami Dolphins and his family organized “A Night With Skylar Thompson,” their first annual fundraising event, with the help of Goolsby’s, as a tribute to his mother. 

Brad currently lives with his second wife, Kathy Thompson, in his home in Palmyra, Missouri. 

Skylar Thompson Father Brad Is A Former Basketball Coach

Skylar Thompson father Brad Thompson is a former Palmyra basketball coach.

Brad coached basketball until 2000 before spending three years in administration at Highland. He grew up playing the game with his father, John, who played and taught basketball in different clubs.

John Thompson had a great coaching career in Missouri, first with the boys’ program at Macon and then with the girls’ team at Jefferson City. After playing for his dad, Brad transitioned into coaching, taking Don Foster’s place at Palmyra after Foster retired in 1993.

He was also the principal at Palmyra R-1 School for two years before resigning in 2005. Thompson was a professor for seven years at Palmyra before being appointed principal. He retired as a freshman principal in 2020 after 16 years at Fort Osage.

His passion was basketball, so he was shocked when his first son wanted to play football. Although he wanted his son to pursue a career in basketball, he was happy to see Skylar shine from a young age.

Brad, who still has many relatives and friends in the Northeast Missouri region, admitted he wasn’t surprised when his son, Skylar, made Miami’s 53-man roster. Brad was sure of his son’s success after watching the 25-year-old play live during the Dolphins’ third preseason game. 

Brad claimed that Skylar and close friends were gathered in front of the TV while the selection was being made, and his name wasn’t being called; then the phone rang, and it was the Dolphins saying they were going to draft him. It was one of the proudest moments for the former coach as a father.

Skylar Thompson and his family of six are huge football fans. Thompson grew up with three siblings in a farmhouse.

His three siblings are Ashley Gibson, Eric Pyle, and Anthony Thompson. Skylar’s younger brother Anthony has followed in his footsteps to pursue a career in football. He dreams of playing in the national football league one day. 

They are usually present in his game and are the loudest supporters among the vast crowd. 

His father, Brad, and stepmother Kathy Thompson have been married for seventeen years. The couple welcomed their first child in 2007.

The Thompson family has spent quality time together and has not shied away from sharing some of them on their social media accounts. Brad, active on Twitter under the username @Brad Thompson, frequently posts pictures of his children and their accomplishments. 

Recently, Brad posted a photo of his son during his graduation and expressed his happiness for his success. Moreover, he also informed his followers about Skylar presenting two “Awards” at the Kstate Cancer Research Banquet in April 2022. 

Similarly, his stepmother uses Instagram under the username @kathy.b.thompson.37. She usually posts photos and videos of her loved ones. Her most recent post dates back to July 2022, when she, with her husband and two sons enjoyed some jazz in their home.

In addition, she wished Skylar on his birthday on July 4, 2022. She posted a picture of the mother-son duo with a lengthy message of love.

The professional football player has not forgotten to do the same for his mom and wished her mother’s day on May 10. Based on his social media, he shares a great bond with his younger brother Anthony. 

Anthony is also active on Instagram under the social media handle @anthony7thompson. His bio states that he is a student-athlete for Fort Osage HS. He will graduate his highschool in 2025.
