Who Is Sunny Balwani? American Businessman On Trail For Fraud - Case Update

Sunny Balwani has been in the media for his shady words & actions.

He and Elizabeth Holmes were recently in the news after being charged with nine charges of wire fraud and two counts of conspiracy to conduct wire fraud. Holmes & Balwani had seized with participating in two criminal schemes, one to cheat investors & the other to scam patients. 

Holmes was found guilty of seven charges of fraud in January 2022. Balwani's trial began in March with jury selection, but the hearings halted a week later owing to COVID-19 exposure by someone in the audience.

Moreover, Balwani's lawyers anticipated contending that he never made a profit at Theranos.

Sunny Balwani, an American businessman, married Keiko Fujimoto, a Japanese artist. Before their divorce in December 2002, the pair lived in San Francisco. However, they have remained tight-lipped about the cause of their split.

During Balwani's time at Theranos, he had a romantic relationship with Elizabeth Holmes. Holmes first met him in 2002 during a language exchange program in Beijing, China, & continued in touch while they moved on to Stanford to study when he was 18 years old and still in school. Sunny & Elizabeth's relationship is kept a secret from their Theranos backers.

Elizabeth said that during her decade-long love involvement with Balwani, Sunny was an extremely domineering figure who berated & sexually assaulted her. As per Holmes' evidence in court, Balwani intended to "destroy the person" she was & transform her into a "new Elizabeth."

As per Forbes, his Theranos collaborator & former lover, Elizabeth Holmes' net worth dropped from $4.5 billion to $0 following her trial conviction. She is presently facing a sentence of up to 20 years in jail.

Balwani has gathered a sizable fortune throughout his triumphant business career.
