Everyone loves a good wedding! It is the celebration of love, togetherness and the beginning of a new journey. While some people look forward to invites so they can put their best foot forward and dress up for the occasion. Celebrity weddings can also be extra fun because there is so much pomp and color. Though you may not get the chance to attend the wedding, you want to see what people wore to the ceremony, the bride’s gown, theme colors, cake and the rest.

2017 has been awash with so many celebrity weddings, both private and public. They include:


1. 1. Pippa Middleton and James Matthews

Pippa Middleton is an English socialite, columnist, author and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge’s little sister. She recently got married to James Matthews, who is a British former professional racing driver, hedge fund manager and the heir to the Scottish courtesy title or Laird of Glen Affric.

The two announced their engagement in 2016 and wed in May 2017. Unlike her sister, Kate Middleton, she did not want to have a royal wedding. Instead, she opted for a more intimate gathering in a countryside setting back in Bucklebury. This, however, does not mean that the wedding was cheap. In fact, it is estimated to have cost upwards of a million dollars. Pippa donned a Giles Deacon ivory lace wedding gown which was custom designed just for her. In addition to this, it is reported that Pippa went through five trials before her wedding day to ensure that she got the chignon for her hair just right. To add to the glamor of the festivities, the bridal party arrived in a fleet of vintage cars while the guests were transported from a security check area to the venue using Land Rovers.

Pippa and Matthews wedding which was among the classiest social events of the year also featured acrobatic performances from Supermarine Spitfire. All this was done and no expense was spared to ensure that Pippa got the wedding of her dreams, even if it was not a royal wedding.

2. 2. Tyrese Gibson and Samantha Lee


Tyrese Gibson is a Black American singer, songwriter, former fashion model, author, actor, television producer and MTV VJ. Some of his most famous roles include Jody in Baby Boy and as Roman in Fast and the Furious series. He married Samantha Lee in a secret wedding back in February 2017.

Samantha Lee is of Ecuadorian, Jamaican and African-American descent. She has a Masters degree in social work from the University of Georgia and makes six figures. Lee uses her Masters degree to help fight sex and human trafficking. She also advocates for inmates to receive counseling. The two first met through mutual friends in Atlanta and Lee’s first impression of Gibson was that he was attractive but that he was ‘Tyrese.’ They then met up two years later on an honest first date where Tyrese reassured her that he wasn’t just about getting her in bed but that he was actually our to meet someone. The two also shared that they had been celibate for sixty days before getting married. They stated that they were born again Christians and made this decision as a result of their faith.

Gibson noted that he first wanted to keep the news about their Valentine’s Day wedding under wraps but that he ended up posting a slideshow on social media which got the attention of fans. There was a backlash over the fact that Lee wasn’t Black American but this was clarified later. Although he deleted the posts later, he still continued to thank his fans for the congratulatory messages that the couple continued to receive.

3. 3. Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski

Amanda Seyfried is an American actress and singer-songwriter. She began her career as a model and then became an actress in her teens. She appeared in television series such as Veronica Mars and in films such as Mean Girls and Dear John among others. She is well accomplished as a singer-songwriter and as an actress as well. Thomas Sadoski, on the other hand, is an American stage, film and television actor. He is best known for his role in the television series Life in Pieces where he takes on the role of Matt Short.

Seyfried and Sadoski got engaged in September 2016 when people noticed that Seyfried was wearing a silver band on her left ring finger. The two then got married in March 2017 in a very private ceremony. In fact, fans did not know about the wedding until later. According to Sadoski, the two went into the country with someone to officiate and got married. In an interview, Sadoski held up his left hand to show off his wedding band, which he was proud of. He described the ceremony as beautiful and everything it should have been. They wrote their own vows and shared them with each other, away from everyone else.

The two met on The Way We Get By on Broadway in 2015 while working together. They began their relationship after reuniting on the set of their upcoming film and confirmed their relationship in 2016. The two are also expecting their first child together.


4. 4. Stevie Wonder and Tomeeka Robyn Bracy

Stevie Wonder has many feathers in his cap. He is a singer, songwriter, record producer and multi-instrumentalist. He and Tomeeka Robyn Bracy have been together for quite some time now. The two only recently welcomed their second child and Stevie’s ninth in December 2014. Wonder and Bracy have been together for a while, following his divorce from Kai Morris.

The two got married in July 2017 at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles. Most people did not know about the wedding prior to it happening. The ceremony is said to have been lavish and with a flair of excellence. Wonder and Bracy were surrounded by close friends and family at the wedding. A number of famous celebrities were also in attendance. John Legend, for example, was in attendance although it is not clear whether he serenaded the couple. Others such as Usher, Babyface, and Pharrell Williams definitely took to the stage and serenaded the couple at their special ceremony, much to the amusement of their guests. These performances came in time before Stevie Wonder’s big moment as he later took to the stage and sang a beautiful song for his bride as well.

This is the 42-year old’s first marriage although she has two children from a previous relationship. She also had a son but he fell off a window when he was two years old and died. Unlike, Bracy, this is Stevie’s third marriage. He was married to Syreeta Wright who was a Motown singer-songwriter from 1970 to 1972 and then to Kai Millard from 2001 to 2012 although the two separated in 2009.

5. 5. Miranda Kerr and Evans Spiegel


Miranda Kerr is an Australian model while Evans Spiegel is an American internet entrepreneur and the co-founder and CEO of Snap Inc., created as Snapchat Inc. the two got married on in May 2017. This is the first marriage for Spiegel but the second for Kerr who was previously married to actor, Orlando Bloom. Kerr shares a six-year-old son with her ex-husband.

Kerr and Spiegel got engaged in July 2016. The two decided to do things the traditional way by waiting until marriage to have sex. Kerr, in an interview, shared that Spiegel was very traditional and that they were waiting until after marriage to go all the way. Their wedding took place at their home in Brentwood, California. The ceremony was quite intimate and was only attended by close friends and family totaling about forty guests. Her son, Flynn, appeared excited throughout the whole ceremony. The two, Kerr and Spiegel, exchanged their emotional vows during the ceremony which lasted only twenty minutes.

For the wedding, Kerr wore a Dior Haute Couture gown and looked as radiant as ever. She shares that her grandmother once told her that men are visual creatures and that she should always strive to look good; so she did. Kerr also has a skincare line, Kora Organics and her sound advice as a beauty expert is to be heeded if her radiant and gorgeous skin is anything to go by. The couple then proceeded to have their honeymoon in Fiji.

6. 6. Morena Baccarin and Ben McKenzie

Morena Baccarin and Ben McKenzie are both in film. Morena is a Brazilian-American actress while McKenzie is an American actor. The two met for the second time and fell in love on the set of television series Gotham. Apparently, the two had met earlier on in The O.C. but McKenzie had blown her off. Soon after co-starring on Gotham, the two started dating and even welcomed their first child, Frances Laiz in March 2016. The two got married in June 2017.

Morena was married to American film producer Austin Chick whom she divorced in 2015 after four years of marriage. The divorce was a bit messy and she was ordered by the court to pay spousal support to her ex-husband, something she has now requested the court to discontinue. In her divorce papers, she stated that she planned to marry her Gotham co-star and that she was even expecting their first child. Baccarin had another child, a son, with her ex-husband Chick. Her son Julius was born in October 2013 and who is turning four years old.

Baccarin and McKenzie announced their engagement in November 2016 and got married fourteen months after their daughter was born. They tied the knot at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens on Baccarin’s birthday. The ceremony is said to have been attended by close friends and family and was low key. There isn’t much chatter about which celebrities were in attendance as well.


7. 7. Josh Peck and Paige O’Brien

Joshua ‘Josh’ Peck is an American actor, voice actor, comedian and a YouTube personality. He is most famous for his role on the live-action sitcom Drake & Josh that used to be aired on Nickelodeon. He married his longtime love Paige O'Brien, a film editor in June 2017.

The two have been together for a while and it was the time they got married, although their wedding elicited mixed reactions. The couple got engaged a few months back with their engagement party happening in May, which O'Brien posted on social media with a caption thanking those who made it happen. The two then got married in Malibu, California among friends and family. Some celebrities such as John Stamos who co-starred with Peck on Grandfathered were present for the ceremony while others such as Drake were obviously absent from the ceremony. O'Brien wore a strapless cream-colored gown which has a sweetheart neckline and ivory-colored embroidery. Peck went with a classic black tuxedo for the big day.

The wedding may have been perfect but the aftermath was not without drama. Drake Bell, who co-starred in Drake and Josh, tweeted about the wedding, to which he was not invited. Seemingly hurt, the actor lashed out on social media but later deleted the tweets and noted his regrets about the whole scenario. He noted that it was wrong of him and that he should have reached out to Peck personally instead of acting out publicly. He later shared that he and Josh are still friends and that he is open to a Drake & Josh reunion.

8. 8. Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli


Samira Wiley is an American actress and model most famous for her role in television series Orange Is the New Black. Lauren Morelli, on the other hand, is an American writer best known for her work on the same television show, Orange Is the New Black as well. The two met while working on the original Netflix show, started dating and fell in love. Their story has been a whirlwind romance.

They have been dating for a while now and announced their engagement on Instagram back in October 2016. Wiley wore a gorgeous Asscher-cut diamond and yellow-gold engagement ring in the post announcing their engagement. The two got married in Palm Springs surrounded by their close friends and family. Both wore Christiano Siriano custom white looks with Samira in a full skirted ball gown and Morelli in a jumpsuit complete with a cape and an ornate collar. The confetti-themed wedding was planned by Beth Helmstetter Events. It turned out to be fun and colorful and was set around the couple’s love for confetti cake.

The couple was pretty excited and took to Instagram to post some of the lovely photos from their wedding including the desert-themed party. Wiley went for a bolder print maxi dress with a pink parasol while Morelli opted for a striped maxi dress with an architectural sleeve and a yellow parasol.  They also posted a photo of the best wedding gift with a note from a friend hoping that both of them did not get their period on their wedding day.

9. 9. Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak

Jim Parsons is an American actor who is best known for his role as Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory. He got married to his partner of nearly 15 years, Todd Spiewak, in 2017. The ceremony happened at the Rainbow Room in New York City.

Todd and Parsons have been together for fourteen years. Parsons celebrated their fourteenth anniversary with an Instagram post in November 2016. While Parsons is an actor, Spiewak is an art director. He graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design from Boston University and has had big clients such as The New York Times and American Express among others. At first, people did not know about Spiewak. He, later on, made his first appearance in 2013, a year after Parsons came out to the public as gay after a story in The New York Times described him as ‘gay and in a 10-year relationship.’ Afterward, Parsons started mentioning Spiewak and including him in public appearances, even introducing him as his partner over the years. Questions about marriage and when they were planning to settle down had plagued Parsons for a long time. At one point they were even rumored to be engaged, something that Parsons denied.

Spiewak and Parsons finally got married in a lavish ceremony, attended by their close friends and family. Parsons posted some photographs using his social media accounts showing the happy couple. Additionally, he thanked their best friend for all the work she put into their special day.


10. 10. Penn Badgley and Domino Kirke

Penn Badgley is an American actor and musician. He is most famous for his role in the film John Tucker Must Die and for his role as Dan Humphrey in the CW’s series Gossip Girl. He is also known for a number of other roles in different films as well. The actor married Domino Kirke, an English-American singer in June 2017.

The couple first exchanged their vows in February 2017 at a Manhattan courthouse. This was followed by a small gathering at a Brooklyn restaurant Maison May. For this day, she wore a white lace number that was simple but elegant. The two then went on to have another wedding in June, where they invited a couple of friends and family to celebrate with them. For the second wedding, people such as Heidi Klum, Zac Posen, and Mariska Hargitay were present for the ceremony. Their attendance was captured through an Instagram post of the three goofing about. On the other hand, Badgley’s Gossip Girls costars were nowhere to be found at the ceremony. For this second wedding, Kirke went with a different number. She wore a vintage-style taupe lace gown with short sleeves. She complemented it with a celestial headpiece.

The two may not have gone ‘all out’ for this wedding as well but they made the best of it and it was beautiful. During the evening entertainment, the two love birds sang Will You Love Me Tomorrow alongside Shirley Reeves from The Shirelles which was an iconic 60’s girls’ group.
