2018 seems a bit of moviegoer’ year!

From so much talked-about movies like “Aquaman”, “X-Men: The New Mutants” to horror like “Slender Man” and more comic like “Deadpool 2”, seems like there is something for everyone on the plate.

With so many movies scheduled to release in 2018’s silver screen, here’s our list of 20 worth-watching movies to watch out for.


1. Aquaman

Warner Bros surely knows how to make an impact! Starring Jason Momoa as Aquaman in 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and 2017’s “Justice League” is the smartest thing ever done by Warner Bros. Again, Jason will be reprising his role in the forthcoming solo movie “Aquaman”, scheduled for release in 2018.

2. Red Sparrow


Jennifer Lawrence reteams with the director of “Hunger Games” movies, Francis Lawrence, for this spy thriller. “Red Sparrow” is an adaptation of the book, written by Jason Matthews.

Jennifer portrays femme fatale Russian intelligence officer Dominika Egorova who works as an American infiltrator (figuratively, not literally). But does, she becomes a double agent? Well, that’s a good question. But, we have neither read the book nor seen the movie, so we can’t tell you.

Still, the trailer looks good and the movie releases in theaters on 2nd March 2018. On that note, Jeremy Irons, Joel Edgerton, Charlotte Rampling and Matthias Schoenaerts also star in the movie. 

Why we’re interested: In the trailer, Jennifer looks sexy in her demeanor as a spy, sporting various looks, from switching between brown and blonde wigs to wearing appealing dresses.

3. X-Men: The New Mutants

X-Men: The New Mutants is a standalone sequel that expands the “X-Men” movie franchises. Directed by Josh Boone and distributed by 20th Century Fox, the movie introduces five young mutants, discovering their powers while being held in some kind of creepy asylum against their will- and their fight to escape and save themselves.

X-Men: The New Mutants release in theaters on April 13, 2018. The movie is known to be the eleventh installment in the “X-Men” film series.


4. Mission: Impossible 6

A long-spanning cinematic journey of “Mission Impossible” franchises bring out its ultimate installment to the screen in 2018, i.e. “Mission: Impossible 6”. It is anticipated to be the sixth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchises and the first film in its franchises to be released in 3D.

Acclaimed stars like Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Alec Baldwin, Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan, Sean Harris and Ving Rhames will be reprising their roles from previous movies, with other stars like Angela Bassett, Vanessa Kirby, Henry Cavill and Sian Brooke joining the franchise.

The Mission: Impossible movies have gained popularity for their balancing high-tech thrill. Again, Tom Cruise reunites with Rebecca Ferguson for another world-trotting adventure, while the director and co-producer Christopher McQuarrie is managing all the havoc.

5. Deadpool 2


The first trailer has already been dropped for the highly awaited Deadpool 2. Deadpool 2 carries its usual antics like explosions, guns, rain, fire, fight scene and it all looks pretty amusing. The movie is scheduled to release on June 1, 2018.

6. Tomb Raider

The last two Tomb Raider movies didn’t receive much of appreciation, but this time, Norwegian director, Roar Uthaug, is attempting his directorial skill at this Tomb Raider adventure.

As we all know, Tomb Raider movies are videogame-to-movies adaptations, yet again 2018’s “Tomb Raider” will be the adaptation from the recently rebooted videogames.

So, get ready for the rough-and-tumble story of survival rather than just gun-firing.

7. A Wrinkle in Time

Another exciting project for the blockbuster “Frozen” director/writer Jennifer Lee, she’s adapted Madeleine L’Engle “A Wrinkle in Time”, alongside Ava DuVernay direction.

Produced under a whopping budget of $103 million, the movie features stars like Reese Witherspoon, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Oprah Winfrey, Chris Pine and Mindy Kaling.

8. Fighting with the Family


This year Stephen Merchant is busy assembling his first movie as a solo director entitled “Fighting with my Family”.

Co-written and directed by Stephen, the movie attracted global celebrities that include British talented personalities like Stephen himself, Nick Frost- alongside American prominent names, including Vince Vaughn, Lena Headey, and Dwayne Johnson.

The movie involves the story of former wrestler/reformed gangster Ricky, his wife Julia, and their children Zak & Saraya, who got an opportunity to audition for WWE and realize that becoming WWE Superstar isn’t an easy job.

Somehow, wrestling has always brought this family together or now it could apart them? The answer remains under the wraps until September 14, 2018.

Why we’re excited: Mostly because of megastar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who is ready to showcase his bulky muscle into the ring, a perfect sense of humor and a killer smile that will melt us. 

9. Bohemian Rhapsody

An upcoming biopic of Queen’s lead singer Freddie Mercury entitled “Bohemian Rhapsody” is kept under a wrap at the time, with director Bryan Singer being fired from the production.

Director Dexter Fletcher replaced Bryan Singer on Bohemian and will be resuming production soon. A huge number of casts is involved in the making of Queen’s front-man Freddie Mercury, including Rami Malek on the lead role.

Why we’re excited: Nearly after a decade of false alarm, the Freddie Mercury biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody” has finally begun its meandering path to the movie screen. With Rami Malek as a lead, recently, the movie is scheduled to release on Christmas of 2018.


10. Slender Man

The new “Slender Man” movie is even horrifying than we have expected!

Directed by Sylvain White, from a movie script penned by David Birke, Slender Man’s appearance is often visualized as a tall, thin, & gruesome like figure with featureless face and unnaturally long arms; who is responsible for disappearance and haunting of numerous teens and children.

11. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom


“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” is the sequel to 2015’s “Jurassic World” and fifth installment of “Jurassic Park” film series.

The first and fourth Jurassic Park movies were amongst the successful one which relied on the concept of a theme park being attacked by the dinosaur. However, the second and third involve on the sidelines of that and didn’t enjoy box-office success as well.

And with “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”, J. A. Bayona is taking a lead as a director alongside Colin Trevorrow & Derek Connolly as a writer. Actors Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will be reprising their parts as Owen & Claire respectively.

12. God Particle

Slated for a theatrical release in February 2018, director Julius Onah confirmed that “God Particle” is the third installment in Cloverfield franchise.

Founder of Cloverfield franchise and producer of “God Particle”, J J Abrams is back with same old tricks for this movie.

So, get ready for a team of astronauts examining a piece of tech that might help to repel an alien attack. However, things go wrong when European spaceship come up.

13. Mary Poppins Returns

Walt Disney Studio has released the first trailer for the much-awaited sequel “Mary Poppins Return” casting Emily Blunt in the lead role, originally portrayed by Julie Andrews.

Even though the teaser trailer doesn’t disclose much, undoubtedly it whets the appetite of viewers. The beloved character of Poppins can be seen gracefully smiling to the camera, holding her trademark umbrella.

The entire Marvel Comics cinematic superhero is coming together for the very first time for this one! From Ironman, Hulk, Captain American to Doctor Stranger, in this “Avengers: Infinity War”, the Avengers will join their forces with the “Guardians of the Galaxy” to fight Thanos.

Lots of major personalities are involved in this movie including Robert Downey Jr, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Wong, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, Josh Brolin, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evan and many others.

15. Solo: A Star Wars Story

The upcoming Star Wars spin-off “Solo: A Star Wars Story” was initially directed by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, but due to creative differences, the pair were replaced by director Ron Howard.

It’s just the latest hiccup in the movie’s production and hopefully, it will not affect the releasing date i.e. on May 25, 2018.

16. Pacific Rim Uprising

For this sequel “Pacific Rim Uprising”, Steven S. DeKnight has taken over directing duties from Guillermo del Toro, who still remain on the movie as a producer.

The sequel is anticipated to be stand-alone and is set ten years after the incident of the original film and includes a new generation of pilots assigned to battle massive sea monsters using gigantic robots.

17. Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet


Taking place six years after the release of original “Wreck-It-Ralph”, the movie is known to be the first direct squeal to Disney animated films to appear on the big screen.

18. Rampage

It seems like videogames are amongst the running theme in 2018’s big movies. As if Wreck-It Ralph 2 and Tomb Raider weren’t enough, here is another adaptation of Bally Midway’s video-games, Rampage. Brad Peyton is the director obligated to give premise a plot, while Dwayne Johnson is taking up the lead role.

19. Venom

Sony Pictures is finally releasing its Spider-Man movies spin-off collection in 2018, with three movies planned being released. “Venom” is the first spin-off among those movies.

Tom Hardy is being cast in the title lead rather than Topher Grace, who was seen in Spider-Man 3. Venom is slated for release on October 5, 2018.

20. The Predator


The Predator franchises are a horrifying mystery, which never really understand the inner doing of those dreadful aliens. Plus, it looks like their intention is telegraphed in their very name, i.e. Predator. Their only motivation is to hunt humans.

But 2018’s “The Predator” version will explore the inner details on why these celestial creatures came to Earth and what they plan to do there.
