Anyone who remembers the basketball class of 2007, knows Tennessee Tech hooper Belton Rivers. He was talented inside the court and humble outside the court.

Sadly, Rivers is no more with us today. His departure has sent a shockwave in the basketball community. 

What Happened To Belton Rivers? Death Cause of the Basketball Player 

Former Tennessee Tech player, Belton Rivers, has passed away. His untimely demise was confirmed by multiple official sources and social media posts. 

Belton Rivers reportedly died while playing basketball recently. But, his actual death cause is not disclosed. 

Since Rivers had never disclosed any major illness or disease, it is probable that he died due to natural causes. However, this is still a developing story and we don't want to make assumptions without any legitimate information.

Belton played for Tennessee Tech under Coach Mike Sutton and was one of the best in the college during this peak era. He transferred to the college from East Carolina in 2005.

Besides, River was a humble and down-to-earth human being. He is remembered for his kind nature and selfless personality.

Belton Rivers Obituary Tribute - Gone too Soon

Belton Rivers's tribute has filled social media following his unfortunate departure.

One of Belton's close friends, Neko Brown, took his grief to Facebook and wrote, "I’m so loss for words! We been playing basketball together since we was 4 years old… and I’m so hurt".

Likewise, TN Tech Black Alumni also expressed their sorrow. They made a Facebook post citing, "The TN Tech family is mourning the loss of a former Golden Eagle basketball player, Belton Rivers. A life lost too soon." 

On the other hand, Rivers' family members have not released a statement yet. They seem devasted by the situation and need privacy in this difficult time. 

Belton Rivers was the age of 38 years old. 

Belton Rivers was a Tennessee Tech Star 

Belton Rivers played for Tennessee Tech from 2005 to 2007. In 2007, he was even named to the All-OVC First Team following the 2006 OVC All-Newcomer Team award.

A native of Athens, Alabama, Rivers started playing basketball at a very young age. He attended Douglass High School, where was among the top recruit of his class.

Though he committed to East Carolina over other colleges, he only played 2 seasons for the college. He eventually graduated from Tennessee Tech.

Belton Rivers was 6 feet and 4 inches tall. He played as a guard for the team. Likewise, Rivers averaged 11.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists throughout his college career.

After his graduation, Rivers nominated his name in the 2007 NBA Draft. But, he remained an Unrestricted Free Agent for a long time.

Nonetheless, the hooper continued his passion for basketball. He played professionally in France and in other major international leagues.
