On January 19, 2021, Ben Oliver entered a plea of guilty to the murder of his 74-year-old grandfather David.

Oliver killed his bedridden grandfather by stabbing him several times. He used a steak knife to butcher his “helpless” grandfather on his face and neck.

In January last year, Oliver confessed to his murder about killing his grandad in Mottingham. He said David passed out after a stroke, wounded and helpless in his bed.

After confessing his crime, Oliver revealed many dark things about his grandfather. He made sexual allegations against David Oliver. He learned that his grandfather was accused of sexual abuse and began to despise him. The 25-year-old also blamed his grandad for having an affair and mistreating his wife.

Ben Oliver’s murder trial will be the first-ever televised court case at London’s Old Bailey. It is set to roll out on Thursday, July 28.

Ben’s attorney has admitted manslaughter due to diminished responsibility. At the Old Bailey, the jury found him not guilty of murder. Bexleyheath resident Oliver was remanded in custody pending sentencing on June 27.

Louis Mably QC said: ‘David had been stabbed and slashed with a knife in the face, particularly in the neck, which had been cut open.’

‘It was a brutal attack, plainly carried out to kill him.” Cameras will start to roll on Thursday, July 28, to broadcast sentencing at the Old Bailey for the first time.’

But, what will be shown on the show? According to the law, there will be no view of the defendant in the dock, attorneys, or any other court personnel; just the judge will be seen.

The televised footage will be aired on Sky News, BBC, ITN, and the PA news agency and will be available online.
