Is Bojan’s Brother Bogdan Bogdanovic? Are They Related?

No, they are not connected. They are not close friends, no. But they do know each other. And, yes, they are occasionally confused for one another.

They have to be, with Bojan Bogdanovic playing for the Pacers and Bogdan Bogdanovic playing for the Kings. Bogdan Bogdanovic is a Serbian 6-6 guard who is 25 years old. He is a rookie with the Kings after being selected 27th overall by Phoenix in the 2014 draft. He’s appeared in three of their last four games, starting the last one in which he scored 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting in a loss to Washington. He averages 12.3 points on 51% shooting while hitting only 29% from beyond the arc.

Bogdan Bogdanovic has quietly become one of the best sixth men in the NBA. It’s not a position he or the Hawks expected him to be in coming into the season.

Meanwhile, Bojan Bogdanovic is a 28-year-old 6-8 forward from Croatia. He is in his fourth NBA season, his first with the Pacers, after being selected 31st overall by Miami in the 2011 draft. He has started all six of their games and is averaging 11.4 points on 49 percent shooting and 30 percent from 3-point range.

Fans may be wondering if the wrong Bogdanovic showed up after the summer free agent signing because of that last number. Bojan was not brought in to hit 30 percent of his three-point attempts, and he does not intend to do so for long. Last season, he hit 37% of his shots, including 39% in 26 games with Washington, which traded a first-round draft pick to Brooklyn in a multi-player deal.

He finished with 15 points despite missing his two second-half attempts, raising his season percentage to something approaching respectable.

He claimed he wasn’t putting pressure on himself to impress his new team, but he did admit to becoming frustrated with his slow start.

Bojan Bogdanovic Joins Piston From Jazz

The Detroit Pistons are preparing for the 2022-23 season by incorporating more 3-point shooting into their lineup. According to multiple reports, the Utah Jazz has agreed to trade Bojan Bogdanovic to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Saben Lee and Kelly Olynyk.

Bogdanovic provides the Pistons with a much-needed 3-point punch, as the team ranked 29th in the NBA in 3-point percentage (32.6%) last season despite finishing in the middle of the pack in 3-point attempts (16th). Bogdanovic hit 39.7% of his 3-pointers and made 550 in three seasons with the Jazz (2020-22). He made 181 3-pointers last season, ranking second on the Pistons behind Saddiq Bey (211 made 3-pointers).

Bogdanovic, 33, averaged 18.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. However, after averaging a career-high 20.2 points per game with Utah in 2019-20, he has seen his average scoring slightly each season. Next summer, Bogdanovic will be an unrestricted free agent. Detroit finished 23-59 in 2021-22, trailing only Houston and Orlando at the bottom of the league standings, but has hope for the future thanks to a young core led by second-year guard Cade Cunningham.

Over 64 games, he overcame an ankle injury that hampered his start to average 17.4 points per game, second in his class with 5.6 assists per game, and fifth with 5.5 rebounds. The Pistons traded leading scorer Jerami Grant to the Portland Trail Blazers early in the offseason and selected former Purdue star Jaden Ivey with the fifth overall pick in the 2022 draft. Ivey, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound point guard, averaged 17.3 points and made 36% of his 3-point attempts last season.

Detroit also acquired No. 13 overall pick center Jalen Duren in a Draft-night trade, giving the team some additional size in the middle. Bogdanovic will join a frontline rotation in Detroit that includes former No. 2 overall pick Marvin Bagley III and Isaiah Stewart and Bey. Bey, a third-year player, averaged 16.1 points per game while setting a Pistons single-season record for 3-pointers.

Stewart is a bruising third-year big man who averaged 8.3 points per game, 8.7 rebounds per game, and 1.1 blocks per game in 71 starts. On the Utah side, this is another player added during the Jazz’s busy offseason. In separate blockbuster trades that brought back a slew of young assets, the team dealt All-Star center Rudy Gobert and guarded Donovan Mitchell. Lee joins a guard corps that includes Collin Sexton, Talin Horton-Tucker, Mike Conley, Jordan Clarkson, Malik Beasley, and others.

The Trail Blazers are in rebooting mode after a disastrous 2021-22 season. Making a play for Bogdanovic is worthwhile for Portland.
