On September 10, 1994, Cora Jones’ body was found in a ditch in Kempster, Wisconsin.
As revealed by the forensics, Jones was sexually assaulted, beaten, and stabbed multiple times. She was killed by a sex offender named David Spanbauer, who was on parole after spending five years in prison.
Spanbauer got arrested when he attempted to burglarize a home in the Fox Valley area. He eventually confessed to police that he was responsible for numerous crimes. There were multiple rape and assault cases, and three murder charges on his name.
In 1992, Spanbauer was convicted of murdering Ronelle Eichstedt, a young girl who suffered the same death as Jones. He was the killer of the same girl that Cora had worried about.
On December 8, 1994, Spanbauer pleaded guilty to Cora Jones’s murder.
