Alek Manoah met his girlfriend, Marielena Somoza, at West Virginia University.

Marielena Somoza is also an athlete. She plays volleyball as a defensive specialist for the WVU women’s team. In 2020, she was ranked sixth on the team with a career-high six assists. Besides sports, Somoza is majoring in fashion design. 

Born on September 19, 2000, Somoza is originally from Puerto Rico. The 5 feet 10 inches tall is the daughter of Mario and Blanqui Somoza.

Manoah’s mother, Susanna Lluch, is the youngest child of Cuban immigrants parents. She was the lone female in the neighborhood T-ball league where she grew up in Miami. Her love for sports increased after she met Erik Manoah Sr. at the age of seventeen years.

Erik Manoah was born on December 22, 1995, in Florida. He was raised in Homestead, Florida, and went to South Dade High School.

The New York Mets drafted Erik in the 13th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft. However, Erik was released in 2019 but now plays for the Lancaster Barnstormers in the Atlantic League.
