Jalen Hurts Dad Averion Hurts Was His Coach Growing Up, Prodigal Son Returns Home On Thursday Night Football

The Philadelphia Eagles used their pick in the second round of the NFL Draft in 2020 to choose Jalen Hurts.

Near the close of his first season with the Eagles, he was given the opportunity to start.

The top quarterback for the Eagles got his start in the game at an early age, thanks to the encouragement of his parents. His father coaches the Channelview High School varsity football team, Averion Hurts. His dad’s athleticism helped pave the way for him to play in the NFL.

In an interview with CBS42, Hurt’s brother, who takes his father’s name, mentioned that he and his other brother shared a strong enthusiasm for the sport.

He noted that over the summer, rather than going to daycare, they would exercise with their father and put in a lot of effort.

Jalen’s parents have a lot of affection for their children, especially Jalen and his brothers. They made certain that the children attended each of their scheduled games without fail.

Because Averion’s father was also his coach, he made certain that his son had a position in Alabama before he went to college.

Averion was there to observe his son participate in one of the Hurts’ practices with the Alabama Crimson Tide after he joined the squad for one of the team’s practices. It was the first time Averion could watch Jalen as a parent rather than as a coach, he stated in an interview with the Alabama Crimson Tide website.

Jalen Hurts’ mother, Pamela Hurts, and father, Averion Hurts, have supported their son as he has pursued his lifelong ambition of being a professional football player.

In 1986, after Jalen’s father completed his high school education at Channelview, he decided to begin a career as a coach almost soon afterward.

He was the head football coach at Lee High School in Baytown, Texas, for four years, but he went back to his alma mater in 2006 to work with the football team there.

In addition to that, Averion holds a degree from Howard Payne University. Additionally, he participated in the school’s athletic competitions, including track and field and football.

Averion Sr. coached both of his sons, both of whom went on to have successful college football careers. Formerly the leading quarterback for Texas Southern University’s football team, Averion Jr. is now the head coach for the football program at the University of Alabama.

Pamela Hurts, Jalen’s Mother, Is a School Educator

Pamela Hurts holds a Master of Business Administration degree in addition to her two Bachelor of Arts degrees.

She is currently the Chief of the Special Services Department at Channelview, teaching mathematics and physical education there. In addition to that, she provides guidance counseling to high school pupils.

Pamela was a working mother, but she and her husband never made their children’s education a lower priority. Her two kids were each on a different college team, but their games were frequently scheduled to take place on the same day.

Even though the parents could not be at both of their children’s games on the same day, at least one of them was always there to provide moral support.

Jalen has two siblings. Kynnedy is Jalen Hurts’ younger sister, while Averion, who was named after Jalen’s father, is his older brother.

Averion, Jalen’s brother, played quarterback at Texas Southern University for a while before becoming a college football coach at the University of Alabama.
