Ohio State Buckeyes Running Back Dallan Hayden Father Aaron Hayden Played 4 Seasons In NFL

Dallan Hayden and his father, Aaron Hayden, are both running back. His father, Aaron, played four seasons in the NFL before retiring in 1998.

Rising through the ranks of NCAA football, Ohio State freshman Dallan Hayden once again showed his capability to carry the ball as he bailed the Buckeyes in the game against Maryland.

Dallan Hayden is an American football running back who currently plays for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He committed to Ohio State in 2022 to play college football.

However, the pacy running back has spent most of his time on the bench. He is currently the reserve running back as a freshman, with Treveyon Henderson leading the lines.

Hayden started the game against Maryland on the bench. But the nagging injury to Henderson ensured his inclusion for the last 30 minutes, and the running back took the opportunity to show what he is about.

The Tennesse native scored three touchdowns to take the Buckeyes over the line, even though the game seemed to be slipping away from them. With the performance he gave yesterday, his odds of starting the next match are pretty high.

Dallan Hayden comes from an athletic family. His father, Aaron Hayden, is a former running back for Tennessee who played four seasons in the NFL.

Currently 49 years old, Hayden played for three different NFL teams in his four years of NFL career. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 1995 NFL draft by the San Diego Chargers (now Los Angeles Chargers).

The running back spent his first two seasons playing for the Chargers. In 1995, he scored three touchdowns, with two coming in a win against Cleveland Browns. He had to wait for 14 weeks to record his first touchdown.

However, his second season with the Chargers was a letdown. He didn’t record any touchdowns, completing the season with 55 carriers and 166 yards in his 11 appearances.

Before that, Hayden played his collegiate football for the Tennessee Volunteers. The running back played 11 games each season for his four college years. He was the 104th draft pick.

Aaron Hayden Departure from Chargers and Retirement

Dallan Hayden’s father, Aaron Hayden, left the Chargers after a disappointing 1996 season.

The running back signed with the Green Bay Packers for the 1997 season. He made many appearances for the Packers that season, rushing 148 yards with 32 carries in the regular season. The Packers made it through to the playoffs that season.

However, Hayden’s playing time was limited in the playoffs. The team ended up being the NFC champions but lost the super bowl to the Broncos.

In 1999, Hayden decided to retire from football. The Philadelphia Eagles signed him for the 1998 season, but the team used him as an unused substitute. This resulted in his retirement at the age of 26.

Ohio State Running Back Dallan Hayden Inspired By His Father

Ohio State freshman Dallan Hayden credits his father, Aaron Hayden, for his development as a football player.

The running back started his football journey with his father. As a child, his father used to train him. They would play football during most of their spare time.

“I’ve been training with him since I was young, and we’ve been doing stuff that younger kids probably can’t do. It’s definitely prepared me,” Dallan said in an interview.

Furthermore, the father-son football time has helped the youngster promptly. He is in the headlines ahead of the Buckeyes’ clash with Michigan State next week.
