The American fighter has fans excited for his upcoming match against Serghei Spivac as the photos of his transformation are making rounds on the internet. 

The veteran UFC fighter, Derrick Lewis, hasn’t had a winning bout in over a year. The 37-year-old lost back-to-back fights in July 2022 and has since decided to be away from the public limelight. 

The fighter has used this time to transform into his best shape and his hard work is certainly shining through the picture shared by the fitness trainer Chris Hernandez.

According to a tweet from Huba Monyyak, Derrick weighs 170 pounds after following a changed diet and strenuous exercise. His diet consists of rice, grains, chicken breasts, and smoothies. He avoids juice and soda, drinking only water.

The latest picture shared by Lewis’ fitness trainer Chris Hernandez on his Instagram story has gained virality across social media handles and especially on Twitter as his fans couldn’t wait for February 4 to come earlier.

The images shared by the UFC lightweight fighter Terrance McKinney received 6.6k likes in less than a day and were retweeted by several UFC fans as they were blown away by the veteran’s fit shape. 

Lewis, nicknamed “Black Beast,” has kept a low-key profile since his defeat on July 30, 2022, against Sergei Pavlovich. It was the second defeat in a row for Lewis who was knocked out by Tai Tuivasa at the UFC 271 event. 

With less than a month remaining for Lewis to prepare for the fight night against Serghei Spivak, the fans of the UFC fighter are now excited to see him make his comeback and certainly looking forward to seeing the American fighter finally win a UFC game in over a year.

On November 18, 2022, when Derrick appeared for the official weigh-in for UFC Vegas 65 event, Derrick came at 263 pounds and his opponent Serghei Spivan measured at 254 pounds. The event will be Derrick’s ninth main event in UFC and Spivac’s first. 

But the weight loss doesn’t mean a guaranteed win for the veteran fighter. Lewis certainly has to be on top of his game against the Moldovan fighter nicknamed “The Polar Bear,” who contrasting Lewis, comes into the fight with two back-to-back victories.

Other fans followed the UFC fighter’s suit as one of them even declared that Derrick’s official weight might be 170 pounds, which is on the dot for the fighters if they want to compete in the welterweight. 

Many fans have expressed happiness seeing the fighter training hard for his match. One of the American fighter fans recalled the fighter’s interaction with Joe Rogan when he said he wanted to get to absolute peak fitness before challenging for the title.

The fighter previously commented about his weight in 2020 and said he needed to go down 15-20 pounds to feel comfortable. He made the comments before his win against Curtis Blaydes. 

We can’t say with a guarantee that Derrick might change his weight class, but this fitness transformation can also help with his long back pain problem, which he has been suffering from since 2017. 

The fight, which should have taken place on November 19, 2022, was rebooked to February 4, 2023. These three months have certainly come as a blessing for Lewis, who will be looking to return to winning ways.
