Dylan Edwards Kids and Wife Nadine Haggart: Meet Bronte Jayla & Winter Kay

Dylan Edwards is married to Nadine Haggart and is blessed with two children.

Dylan’s second daughter Winter was born on November 3, 2019, and he posted a picture of her wishing her a happy first birthday. He is delighted with his children; he spends most of his time with his family, and the couple takes their children outside on weekends.

The statistics and highlights don’t jump out at us, but no less a judge than Billy Slater has praised Dylan Edwards’ contribution to Penrith’s memorable run to the NRL grand final.

As flashier rival fullbacks stole the show in 2020, the Albury product had five tries and seven try assists. But Slater has held the position for many years and understands that crossing the Steeden is just the icing on the cake for a genuine No.1.

In 2020, Edwards, 26, has eliminated the flaws in his game, and his poise in high-stakes situations is comparable to Slater and Panthers coach Ivan Cleary in their prime. “He’s been a valuable contributor in 2020, and I’ve enjoyed watching his game develop, particularly under the high ball. “He’s had his moments under the high ball, made a few mistakes, and the communication side of his game wasn’t there. He didn’t keep his feet moving; dropping these balls can become a habit.

“It’s a part of his game that he has worked hard on,” Slater emphasized the importance of two clutch catches near the end of the tense preliminary final win over South Sydney. “Towards the end of the game, there were some massive moments, and he just had that confidence to be aggressive up into the ball, keep his eyes on the target, and take the ball,” Slater said.

“With a minute to go, a big moment leading up to a grand final to save the day for his team, he appeared to do it with ease.”

In 2013, Edwards relocated to Penrith, New South Wales, to play for the S. G. Ball Cup team.

He became a member of Penrith’s NYC team in 2015 and 2016.  He played for the Penrith Panthers in their 2015 NYC Grand Final victory over the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles on October 4, 2015.  Edwards played 44 games for the U20s from 2015 to 2016, scoring 20 tries and kicking 72 goals for 224 points. He re-signed with the Penrith Panthers on a two-year contract until the end of 2018. He was a mefor the Junior Kangaroos against the Junior Kiwis on May 7.

Because Penrith centre Tyrone Peachey was dropped for disciplinary reasons, Edwards made his NRL debut on July 10 against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. In September, he was named to the 2016 NYC Team of the Year’s interchange bench. Edwards has been named to Penrith’s 2017 Auckland Nines squad. In the 2017 NRL season, he appeared in 14 games for Penrith and scored two tries.

Edwards suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in Round 8 of the 2018 NRL season after a tackle in the 13th minute against Canterbury-Bankstown.  He scored two tries as Penrith defeated the Gold Coast 24-2 at Penrith Stadium in round 17 of the 2019 NRL season. He scored two tries in a 26-20 win over Cronulla-Sutherland at Panthers Stadium in round 21.

Dylan appeared in 20 games for Penrith in the 2019 NRL season, but missed the finals for the first time since 2015 as the club finished 10th on the table.  Edwards suffered a syndesmosis tear in his right ankle during a training session, it was revealed on February 20. Edwards later underwent surgery and was ruled out indefinitely. He made his comeback against the Melbourne Storm in round six.

Edwards appeared in 14 games for Penrith, helping the club win the Minor Premiership and advance to the 2020 NRL Grand Final. Edwards played fullback in Penrith’s 26-20 loss to Melbourne in the grand final.  Edwards kicked his first field goal against the Brisbane Broncos in round 19 of the 2021 NRL season, a two-point field goal in Penrith’s 18-12 victory.

He scored two tries in a 34-16 victory over St. George Illawarra in round 22. In the 2021 NRL season, Edwards appeared in 21 games for Penrith, including the club’s 2021 NRL Grand Final victory over South Sydney.

Dylan Edwards, fullback for the Penrith Panthers, has signed a new two-year contract extension with the club as the reigning champions battle to keep their premiership team together.

When coach Ivan Cleary revealed that Edwards played in the Panthers’ 2021 premiership win despite having a broken foot, his name was etched in the grand final history books. Despite his injury, Edwards ran for the second-most yards of any player on the field as the Panthers won 14-12 over the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The club confirmed that Edwards had been retained. “He is ecstatic to have secured his future here because Panthers is the only place he wants to be,” Edwards said. “This club means the world to him. He grew up with this team, and our bond is something special. “He believes they still have a lot to accomplish as a team, and his family and himself are ecstatic to be a part of that journey.” 

Cleary has long praised Edwards’ contributions to the Panthers as going beyond the stat sheet, so he was delighted to keep his fullback.  “Dylan’s character and courage are assets to our club,” said the coach. “His attitude and commitment mean that his game is still developing, and we are confident that his strong years are still ahead of him.” “On and off the field, he sets an outstanding example for any young player aspiring to play in the NRL.”

Members of the Panthers’ grand final-winning team have already begun to pay the price for their premiership success, with lucrative contracts offered elsewhere. Viliame Kikau and Apisai Koroisau will join rival clubs next season, while Matt Burton, Paul Momirovski, and Kurt Capewell have already left the Premiership.

Tyrone May, who came off the bench in the grand final, was also released by the Panthers, citing a “serious breach of contractual obligations” related to a social media post made after the premiership victory.
