Who Are Eddie Mesa and Rosemarie Gil? Meet Cherie Gil's Parents
Eddie Mesa is the stage name of Eduardo de Mesa Eigenmann. He is a retired Filipino actor and singer born on February 18, 1940. Known for performing the famous Sammy Davis song, he later earned the moniker "Elvis Presley of the Philippines."
Eddie, the lead singer of Eddie Mesa and The Trippers, changed his last name to that of his mother. His father was of German and Swiss descent.
His wife, Maria Rosa Francisca Catalina Gil-Eigenmann y Castallvi, also known as Rosemarie Gil, is a Filipina singer and actress. Born on March 9, 1942, Rosemarie is 80 years old and best known for her portrayal of rich socialite-villainess parts.

Eddie met Rosemarie while working. Their first child Michael Edward (Michael de Mesa), was born in 1960. Similarly, the other two children, Raphael John (Mark Gil), and Evangeline Rose (Cherie Gil), were later born during the couple's 1961 marriage.
Due to marital issues, including Mesa's alleged drinking and womanizing, the couple divorced in 1970. While Rosemarie stayed in the Philippines and continued working as an actress, Eddie left for Guam in 1978 for six months before moving to Hawaii.
After becoming a born-again Christian in 1986, Mesa reconciled with his wife, and they are married as of now. Eddie and Rosemarie now have 13 grandchildren, most of whom follow in their professional footsteps.
Sadly, two of their children (Cherie and Mark) have already passed away. The other son Michael works as a Filipino film and television actor.
