Amid chemotherapy treatment, Kennedy coxed the British PR3 mixed coxed four teams to victory by a massive 19.33 seconds. The Paralympic champion amassed the win on Sunday at the Munich 2022 European Rowing Championship on the 14th of August.

Earlier in May, Kennedy received a breast cancer diagnosis. However, the British para-rowing cox, who turned 30 recently, did not let the illness stop her. 

While in an interview with Olympics.com, Kennedy stated- "Firstly, I would caveat that my oncologist is just totally on board with this, so don't worry. I'm not the sort of running away from her and hiding it from her."

She claimed to have always been resilient; however, this moment tested her the most. According to her, cancer won't define her career, and what matters the most is her performance on the water.

Kennedy falls into the 4% of British women under 39 diagnosed with breast cancer. Although the diagnosis was unexpected, Kennedy made a point of being composed.

Erin, a Tokyo 2020 Paralympic champion, two-time global champion, and European champion, was still digesting the shocking news when she started to worry about continuing to play the sport she loves.

Erin Kennedy, the Paralympic coxswain champion, has breast cancer. Following her recent game victory, she is taking a break from the competition and regards the Munich regatta as an ideal outcome.

Kennedy has undergone two rounds of chemotherapy until now. On Tuesday, she had her oncology appointment and had her blood taken for the next round of chemotherapy on Thursday. Moreover, she will receive the fourth bout of therapy at the end of the month, bringing four in total.

Kennedy expressed how her diagnosis with cancer at 29 came as a "shock" to her, as she had always led a proactive life. Nevertheless, the doctor made the diagnosis when she got her lump checked.

The inspirational rower, who was only three months far from being from receiving the cancer diagnosis, led her team to victory over the weekend while undergoing cancer treatment in Munich.

The Good Morning Britain hosts and several media platforms complimented the inspirational sports star throughout their conversation. Likewise, those watching at home concurred with the presenter, and many posted comments on social media quickly after Erin's interview aired.

Erin Kennedy's crew comprises James Fox, Oliver Stanhope, Ellen Buttrick, and Giedre Rakauskaite. In 2019, the team set a new World Best Time record at World Rowing Championships in Linz Ottensheim. That record further secured them a place for Tokyo 2020.

Likewise, in 2021, the crew was featured in the Book of Guinness World Records when they set another fastest rowing record in the PR3 Mix 4+. The same year, they reformed for the European Rowing Championships and brought the title of European Champions for the first time.

For her excellency and contributions to rowing, Kennedy was appointed Member of the order of the British Empire (MBE) in the New Year's Honors in 2022.

Kennedy has been training full-time with the GB Rowing Team since 2016 in both Olympic and Paralympic Pathways. Likewise, she is a member of the Leander Club in Henley-on-Thames.

There is no information regarding her net worth, but the gold winner of various championships certainly earns decently.
