Suella Braverman was born to parents, father Christie and mother Uma Fernandes of Indian roots. Braverman have two children altogether.

Suella Braverman Parents Origin

Suella Braverman aka Sue-Ellen Cassiana was born on the 3rd of April, 1980 to Indian origin parents.

Her father and mother migrated to Great Britain in the 1960s from Kenya and Mauritius respectively. Ultimately, she was born in Harrow, London, England, and has spent most of her time in Wembley.

Braverman’s family has proudly served their local community of Wembley, North East London.

Her parents opted to transfer her to a local independent school after she had previously attended a local public school. There, she was awarded a scholarship to aid her tuition. Ultimately, she received a scholarship to study law at Queens College in Cambridge.

Braverman also completed an LLM in European and French law at the Pantheon-Sorbonne in Paris and passed the New York bar exam to become admitted to practice law in the state of New York.

Braverman’s dad, Christie Fernandes is of Goan origin and he was raised on the southwestern India.

Fernandes had completed his school study in Kenya before migrating to London. He is the eldest of five Kenyan siblings. He lost one of his brothers who was working in Delhi. Two of his sisters are currently living in Cyprus and Goa with their husbands and children. Similarly, one of his brothers is a respected priest in the Archdiocese of Delhi.

According to The Times Of India, Braverman traces her father’s roots ancestry from Sokolwaddo, Assagao, and her grandmother’s side from Calangute. She has traveled to Goa and Cyprus on plenty of occasions.

Braverman’s father, Christie upon moving to the United Kingdom worked for a housing association. He has helped his local community as a campaigner for various events. The Wembley natives well recognize him as an activist and a good orator.

Christie Fernandes stated that he is very proud of his daughter’s achievements. As quoted in The Times Of India, he said: “We are very proud of her. She has always been a smart girl, and always had her high hopes.

Suella Braverman’s mother, Uma Fernandes was born to a Tamil Mauritian family. She is a retired nurse and a poltician.

As mentioned on Suell’s official website, her mom was recruited by the NHS as an 18-year girl and has worked in the medical industry for almost fifty years.

Braverman’s mom also served as a Councillor of Brent for almost 16 years. In both the general election of 2001 and the 2003 Brent East by-election, her mother ran as the Conservative candidate in Tottenham.

Suella’s mother was the one who inspired her to rise in politics.

Braverman Is The Neice Of Former High Commissioner

Suella Braverman is the niece of Mahen Kundasamy. Her uncle is a retired Mauritian High Commissioner to London and South Africa.

He served as the Director of Government Affairs for sub-Saharan Africa at Citigroup between 2015 to 2016. He also worked as a deputy Chief of Staff for Strategy at the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission. During his more than two-decade-long career, he has to build formidable senior African relations. At present, Braverman’s uncle lives in London.

The newly appointed UK Home Secretary also has her relatives in Goa, Delhi, and Cyprus.

One of her uncles, Fr Ayres Fernandes is the director of a retreat center in Okhla, Delhi. He shares his birthday, April 3, with the UK Home Secretary.

Suella Braverman has cousins brothers and sisters living in London, Goa, Delhi, and Cyprus.

Nevertheless, their names have not been documented. All together, Suella has two aunts and three uncles from her father’s side. Similarly, she has maternal aunts who are living in India.
