Who Are George Karlaftis’ Parents?
George Karlaftis was born to parents Matthew and Amy Karlaftis.
His father was also an all-around athlete. However, he chose to pursue education and earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering before pursuing a doctorate at Purdue University.
His mother Amy, who grew up in West Lafayette, Indiana, near Purdue, met Matthew while he was a freshman. At home, Amy spoke English to the couple’s four children, although they were raised in Greek culture.
Matthew tragically died of a heart attack in 2014 while on a work trip to Kos to give a speech at an engineering conference.

George Karlaftis hails from Greek ethnicity.
He was born in Greece and moved to the United States when he was 13 years old.
He was selected Defensive Player of the Year in the 2019 United States Army All-American Game.
He also competed in track and field for the school, capturing back-to-back state titles in the shot put.
Karlaftis has committed to play collegiate football for Purdue, which is just a mile from his home.

Karlaftis started all 12 games as a true freshman for Purdue in 2019, earning 54 tackles and 7.5 sacks.
Due to a positive COVID-19 result, he only played in three games as a sophomore in 2020, ending with four tackles and two sacks.
