Hailey Baptiste Dad Qasim Taught Her Tennis

Hailey Baptiste dad Qasim Baptiste started teaching her tennis when she was four. Qasim previously played tennis.

Qasim first took his daughter to a court close to his apartment, grabbing a few used rackets from his wardrobe. He remembers that he gave her one ball and ‘Pow!’ Forehand down the line. She instantly fell in love with the sport from the first hit of the ball.

She trained every day for two years until she mastered the game. After that, Baptiste practiced for seven years at the Junior Tennis Champions Center in neighboring College Park, Maryland, before beginning her career with the Washington Tennis and Education Foundation on the Citi Open site.

Her mother saw her daughter’s passion for the game and raised a “Go Fund Me” to assist Hailey’s dream. The fundraiser has collected nearly seven thousand dollars at the time of this writing.
