Clayton Ruby's illustrious spouse was Madam Justice Harriet Sachs. She is employed by the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario. With her late spouse, Sachs had two daughters, including Emma Ruby-Sachs.
Clayton Ruby leaves behind his wife Harriet Sachs, a Superior Court of Ontario judge, and their two children, Emma and Kate.

He wrote several legal textbooks and was an expert in criminal, constitutional, administrative, and civil rights law. Ruby played a pivotal role in Canada's fight for LGBTQ rights when he spoke out in favor of Michelle Douglas, a 1989 veteran of the Canadian Forces.
Douglas' lawsuit caused the military's anti-gay and anti-lesbian policies to end.
