Former President George H. W. Bush, one of his father figures, a close friend, and a regular golf partner, wrote the preface to the book. Following an Alzheimer’s diagnosis and treatment at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, Jim Nantz Jr., the father of Nantz, passed away in 2008.

Nantz has made guest appearances on The Price Is Right to deliver Showcase prizes involving CBS Sports brands, including one for tickets to 2009 Final Four in Detroit.

His voice can also be heard in the 1998 film Scrapple. He was the speaker for the imaginary baseball team in the short-lived series Clubhouse. Since 2009, Nantz has provided guest commentary for the BBC during the Open Championship’s championship round.
