After 20 years with the network, Jeffrey Toobin announced his departure on Friday, two years after he rejoined. Toobin had previously left CNN as a legal commentator after embarrassing himself in a Zoom conversation with coworkers.

Toobin met Eric Jamison Dodd while they were at Macalester College. The couple married on August 18, 2018, at the Great Hollow Nature Preserve and Ecological Research Center in New Fairfield, Connecticut. 

The son of Lynn M. Dodd and Neal F. Dodd of Fort Madison, Iowa, Eric holds the manager position in the Chicago office of Retail Next. Additionally, he serves as vice president of the partner’s committee at the Chicago Fire Foundation.

Jeffrey Toobin Zoom Incident, Fired By The New Yorker

Toobin, 62, was fired from The New Yorker on October 19, 2020, for masturbating in front of the camera during a Zoom video conversation between The New Yorker staff members and WNYC radio.

He apologized to his family and friends in his statement, saying it was unintentional. “I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera.” Toobin was sacked from The New Yorker the following month, which resulted in a permanent ban on him from its broadcasts and podcasts.

Jeffrey Toobin, a long-time legal expert for CNN, announced his departure from the channel late on Friday. This came just 14 months after CNN had welcomed him back after the notorious Zoom episode, which damaged his career and brought dishonor to the network.
