She belongs to the family of musicians – obviously an advantage to her career as a performer. You might have heard of Smiley Wilson. Yes, Rita is the daughter of the singer, songwriter, and guitarist Smiley Wilson and his wife Kitty (Carson) Wilson, who also belongs to the music background.

Rita likely made one of the earliest radio appearances when her parents scheduled an appearance with her when she was three weeks old. Growing up, she was used to performing with her parents. Rita made her musical debut on the Louisiana Hayride at four, and at seven, she made an appearance on the Grand Ole Opry. She recorded her debut record for MGM when she was seven years old.

With MGM Records, Rita released her songs I Fell Out Of A Christmas Tree, We’ve Got Some Dreaming To Do ‎, Smiley & Kitty, I Want Santa Claus For Christmas, I Love You More And More ‎(, and more. She also produced her songs with Capitol Records, including Salt And Pepper / Don’t You Come Back At All, Nothing Else To Lose, and Tiny Teardrops. 

Combining her works with both agencies, Rita released 20 Singles and EPs. Moreover, she has an album to her credit titled Rita Faye’s Autoharp, which she produced with Capitol Records. Furthermore, she holds a feature credit in the movie The Girl From Tobacco Row in 1966.

Rita eventually married her husband Earl Sinks and gave birth to a son Brandon Earl Sinks. All of them belong to the music profession. Rita spent more than fifty years with her husband until his demise in 2017.

Sources convey that she now resides in Goodlettsville with her son Brandon Earl Sinks where she spent over a half-century of her life with her late husband, Earl Sinks. Rita’s last music release was probably Jellybeans And Gumdrops which was released in 1970. Since then, she seems to have retired from her musical career. However, her son, Brandon Sinks, keeps posting her past musical creations on his amateur Youtube channel with 57 subscribers.
