New Zealand has recently called for TikTok to be removed from Apple and Google Play stores as per the recent updates.

The application TikTok is known in China as Douyin, a short-form video hosting service. It is owned by a Chinese company called ByteDance. Tiktok is the English version of Douyin. The app was released in September 2016.
Is TikTok Getting Banned In NZ?
New Zealand has requested Apple and Goggle to remove the TikTok app from their play store over some issues regarding national security.
However, there is no information regarding the banned of TikTok in New Zealand as of July 19, 2022. In New Zealand, 44% of TikTok users are around 18 to 24 years old, and an additional 22% are 25 to 34 years old, as per data. Besides, TikTok has become a source of income for many people; if the app gets banned, it might affect the national economy of the country as well.

Calls To Shut Down On Apple and Google Store
The US Federal Communication commissioner recently called Google and Apple to remove Tiktok from their app store. They get to know that the user’s data is being misused and assessed by china.
On Wednesday, FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr shared a letter to Tim Cook and Sundar Pichai, respectively, regarding the misuse of the information. He raised concerns over TikTok Chinese proprietorship, saying, “It harvests swaths of sensitive data that new reports are currently being accessed in Beijing.”
Moreover, A TikTok Spokesperson, Brooke Oberwtter, declined to speak against Carr’s letter. The US federal communications consignor wants the app to be banned, and the CEO of Social Media in NZ, Alex Ford, agrees and wants it removed and banned from the Appstore and Google store.
