Jamillah Ali is Muhammad Ali’s daughter from his marriage to his second wife, Belinda Boyd who later changed her name to Khalilah Ali. Jamillah has a twin sister Rasheda Ali born in 1970 and they are very close to the date. Jamillah has followed in her father’s footsteps to become an accomplished woman, whose purpose is to pursue excellence and compassion in her life. She is among her father’s nine children and works at the Illinois Secretary of State's Office.

Jamilah and Rasheda did not enjoy a loving upbringing from their parents because they divorced in 1976, 6 years after they were born. Interestingly, the Twins did not live with either of their parents for their father was in the Philippines to fight Joe Frazier while their mother Belinda left to make movies. At 6 years of age, Jamillah Ali, Muhammad Ali's daughter and her twin sister Rasheda plus their sister Maryum and brother Muhammad Jr. moved in with their grandparent’s i.e. their mother’s parents outside Chicago. They were raised in a strict Muslim culture set on rules and respect. Their father would visit them from time to time during holidays but the two mention that they never knew their father’s importance for he was not present in their upbringing.

Jamillah’s mother Khalilah is the former wife of boxer Muhammad Ali whom he married in 1967 when she was 17 years of age. Khalilah and Mohammad divorced after being married for ten years and had four children together. Khalilah, Jamillah’s mother studied karate under Jim Kelly and Steve Saunders and earned a third-degree black belt by 1977. She, later on, earned her ninth degree black belt and has appeared on the cover of Ebony Magazine severally. She got married again in the 1980s but ended up divorcing twice more.

 Legendary boxer Muhammad Ali's daughter, Jamillah Ali got married in 2010 to Michael Joyce a Chicago lawyer whose passion is to support young boxers.Muhammad Ali walked his daughter down the aisle despite him having Parkinson's disease.  Rev. George Clements officiated the wedding in the presence of 140 friends and many onlookers. Michael Joyce, Jamillah’s husband is the son of former Illinois State Sen. Jeremiah Joyce and is a former prizefighter known as "Irish Mike Joyce”. Jamillah, her husband Michael Joyce and children reside on the far south side of Chicago. The couple is blessed with two daughters, Nadia and Amira and one son, Jake.

Michael Joyce knew how much Mohammad cared and loved her daughter Jamillah hence he knew it would be tough getting approval from Mohammad to marry her daughter.  Even at a time when the boxing champion was struggling with Parkinson's disease, Michael knew Jamillah’s  father took no mess. He broke the news to Mohammad on the telephone of his pure intentions to marry his daughter, love her and take care of her for the rest of their days. Michael was 40 years at the time and a former boxer. He was worried that due to his age Mohammad would turn him down but surprisingly he approved. Jamillah  Ali, Muhammad Ali's daughter could now get married to Michael Joyce the son of South Side Irish Democrat powerbroker and former State Senator Jeremiah Joyce.
