For the office of the 3rd Congressional District of Washington, Joe Kent, a well-known politician, and America First candidate, is running in the Democratic primary against Representative Jamie Herrera Beutler. With 31.09 percent (67,615) of the vote, Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is in the lead, followed by Joe Kent with 22.71 percent of the vote (49,392), and Herrera Beutler is in third with 22.31 percent (48,523).

Joe joined the Army as an infantryman when he was only 18 and worked his way up to the Ranger Regiment and then the Special Forces. Furthermore, he offered to participate in battle whenever there was an opportunity following 9/11. Joe engaged in this activity for over twenty years and eleven combat tours.

He had long-standing plans to continue serving the country in difficult overseas nations. However, he deviated from his plans after his wife, Shannon Kent, was killed in Syria while battling ISIS. Joe left the Army following the tragic incident.

Through two decades of combat and with the death of his wife, Joe was well-versed with the effects of bad policy. The establishment, in his opinion, is too self-centered to accurately reflect the wishes of the people they are supposed to speak for. Joe is running as a Republican for election to the U.S. House to represent Washington’s 3rd Congressional District to reform the current policy situation.

Joe Kent Is 42 Years Old

Joe Kent was born on April 11, 1980, meaning he is 42 as of 2022. 

He was raised in Portland, Oregon, but was born in a cabin in Sweet Home, Oregon. Thanks to Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts, he spent most of his formative years in the Cascade Mountains and Columbia River Gorge. Joe had always regarded the Pacific Northwest as his homeland and desired to safeguard his country. 

Joe joined the 75th Ranger Regiment of the American Army as an infantry soldier at 18. Similarly, at the age of 22, he descended as a special force candidate at the JFK Special Warfare Center and School, and by the time Joe reached 23, he had already become a special forces weapons sergeant (18B).

Furthermore, in no time, Joe was promoted to positions, namely, executive officer/detachment commander for the U.S. Army’s 5th special forces group and special forces intelligence sergeant (18F). After that, Joe began serving as USASOC’s executive officer/commander in 2013. And in 2018, he was appointed the Intelligence Community’s operations officer.

After that, Joe was hired to handle a technology startup’s project and serve as the sole owner of Perpetual LLC and a security consultant in 2019. He entered politics in 2021 and is currently a candidate for Congress (WA-03).

Joe Kent’s Wife, Shannon Kent Died From Manbij Bombing

Shannon Mary Kent, a Senior Chief Petty Officer and Cryptologic Technician in the United States Navy, was killed in the Manbij bombing in 2019 while serving in Syria.

On January 16, 2019, Kent was a part of a party that went to a conference with regional military leaders and stopped at a nearby eatery frequented by American service members, the Palace of the Princes in Manbij, Syria. Suddenly, a man wearing a suicide vest strolled by outside and set his device off. Kent, alongside three other Americans, was killed as part of the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve.

Shannon sent Joe a text message on January 16 informing him that she would be leaving for a mission. The next instant, a fireball tore through the Palace of the Princes dining area, ripping out the establishment’s front door and searing passersby outside. Kent became the first female military member to lose her life in that deadly bombing, bringing attention to the often unnoticed place that women hold in the male-dominated and covert realm of special operations.

Furthermore, she was the first female military member of the United States to be killed by enemy fire in more than three years. Shannon’s husband, Joe Kent, left the military after her death.
