John Herdman And Wife Clare Herdman Have Been Married For Two Decades

John Herdman and his wife, Clare Herdman, have been married for over two decades. They have been dating for almost thirty years.

The Canada head coach met 45-year-old Clare when he was 16 and she was 14.

John and his wife have stuck together ever since they started dating in their youthful days and traveled the world together. They have always been supportive and never gave up on each other. 

The pair have welcomed two beautiful children into the world, a son and a daughter, Jay Herdman & Lilly-May. The siblings are both in their teenage years and share seven years of an age gap.

Herdman’s 18-year-old son Jay is a pro soccer player who is a midfielder for Whitecaps FC 2 of MLS Next Pro. The athlete has also played in the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League for Surrey United SC and joined the Whitecaps FC Residency program in August 2017. 

John Herdman Wife Clare Herdman Is His Childhood Sweetheart 

John Herdman and his wife, Clare Herdman, are childhood sweethearts. They met at school when they were young and joyful, full of life, at 14.

The coach and his significant other were in an on-and-off relationship, having dated and parted for a couple of years. They then advanced their relationship to being a husband and wife and have been together for many years.

When the manager was in his toughest phase, his spouse never gave up on him. His family fell apart, with his dad dealing with depression and his mom relying on alcohol for self-medication. His parents also went separate ways; fortunately, his then-girlfriend and her family became his foundation.

Clare has been in John’s life from his hardship to a successful managing and coaching career. They have been through many highs and lows together but always support each other in every step. The communication, trust, and fondness the pair share have secured their bond for so long, and they have forever to go. The Herdams live at their cozy house in Vancouver with their kids.

Clare Herdman Is The Mother Of Two kids 

Clare Herdman is the mother of two kids. She and her husband, John, became parents for the first time in 2004.

Their firstborn, son Jay Herdman, is 18 years old and an athlete. Jay is a midfielder. In September, he was named as a representative for New Zealand at the OFC Under-19 Championship.

Since Jay was born in Invercargill while John was a development officer with Football South, he is able to represent New Zealand. If he chooses to, he can play for England because of his parentage, but he declared that his heart belonged to his native nation.

Clare and John also have a gorgeous 11-year-old daughter named Lilly-May. They have nurtured their children with unconditional love and care but have chosen not to share every detail about their upbringing on the internet.

However, Herdman has shared a few pictures with his kids on his official Twitter account, @coachherdman. The father-son duo is into cars, and John often took his young son to the Great Canadian Bug Show and Ladner car show.

Likewise, the Canada head coach has posted some of his daughter’s precious moments, including photos of her with other beautiful people posing with bicycles. Furthermore, he captioned, “Lilly joined the gang, natural bad girl!!!! Great role models, the future’s bright.”

John Herdman And Clare Herdman Only Son Is A Young Footballer

Clare Herdman and John Herdman raised an athlete. Their son, Jay Herdman, is an 18-year-old soccer player.

John’s profession as a football coach has dramatically influenced his children to pursue an athletic career. Hence, his firstborn inherited his love for sports and has played soccer professionally since March 2022.

Jay played his youth career for clubs, including Hibiscus Coast, Surrey United SC, and Vancouver Whitecaps FC, from 2017 to 2022. Later in March 2022, he made his professional debut for Whitecaps FC 2 in a match against Houston Dynamo 2.

The athlete can play for New Zealand through birth, Canada through residency, and England through parentage. He was born in Invercargill, New Zealand, and moved to Surrey, BC, while young.

Herdman’s son has represented New Zealand and Canada at the youth level. The younger Herdman played in the Canadian under-20 side for a friendly match against Costa Rica and appeared in New Zealand U20’s game against Cook Islands U20. 

The 18-year-old also received the Golden Ball for the tournament when New Zealand qualified for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup after winning the OFC U-19 Championship.
