Kerry Ann Thomson is a teacher at Prall Intermediate School in West Brighton. She graduated from the College of Staten Island with a bachelor’s degree in teaching and a master’s degree in special education.

She is the daughter of New Brighton residents Barbara and James Thomson.

Kerry sadly lost her husband on September 11, 2022, after 11 years of marriage. Anthony was involved in a head-on accident with a wrong-way vehicle in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Coincidentally, the accident happened as he was heading back to volunteer at the World Trade Center Command in remembrance of the September 11 tragedy.

In 2006, his first season as a professional, he played in five games with the Peoria Mariners. Varvaro played 30 games, including 24 starts, for the Class-A High Desert Mavericks during the 2008 season.

The Atlanta Braves took Varvaro off waivers on January 13, 2011. When he was promoted to the major leagues in July 2011, he spent the first part of the 2011 campaign with the Triple-A International League’s Gwinnett Braves.

After making a few appearances out of the bullpen, he was sent back to Gwinnett. The baseball player was given to the Boston Red Sox on December 17, 2014, in exchange for minor leaguer Aaron Kurcz.
