Lucy announced her engagement with Laura Wilson in 2020.
On December 25, 2020, Lucy posted a photo of her pointing to Laura’s finger as the pair decided to put a ring on their relationship. It was a low-key ceremony with a cutout of the word “Engaged” and a ring hanging from a string in the background.
One of the first photos of the newlyweds dates back to 2016 when Laura and one of Lucy’s friends competed in Great North Run 2016. The footballer was present in the marathon as more of a cheerleader for her two friends than a participant.
The couple was then seen again two months later in November 2016 having a fun time at Lucy’s 26th birthday party and ever since then Lucy has been a standard feature on Lucy’s Instagram handle.
In 2017, the pair took a trip to Sairee Beach, Koh Tao, a paradise located in Thailand. Lucy shared the photo of them on a swing she had kept in polaroids. The footballer continued to share pictures of their adventures in Thailand as they visited another island in Thailand, Koh Samui.
A trip to Edinburgh followed a trip to Thailand in June 2017 in December of that year. The couple later celebrated Christmas together as Lucy captioned the post, “First Christmas.”
Short vacations and trips have indeed made the couple’s relationship strong. In 2018, the two were pictured having fun at the party place, Mambo Ibiza.
Being locked up during the pandemic wasn’t the best experience for them, but it might have provided Lucy enough time to think about her future with her wife-to-be Laura, as they decided to take a big step in their lives.

Two years after their engagement in 2020, the couple tied the knot on December 24, 2022. The ceremony had close family and friends, including United players Hayley Ladd and Ella Toone.
Laura, who has now hyphenated her name to Laura Staniforth-Wilson on all her social media pages, shared a photo of their big day on her Twitter handle.
The YouTube channel, Sara Sarah, talked about the couple’s special day and shared the video of Lucy and Lura walking down a flight of stairs as they exchanged their vows.
Laura and Lucy chose to wear a similar dress with plunging necklines and no sleeves. Laura had paired her dress with a short veil as they were seen walking down the aisle with a bouquet.

One of the attendees at the ceremony also clicked a clip of the two dancing, as the two looked stunning and in love in the short clips.
2023 undoubtedly brought a lot of changes in Lucy’s life. The footballer now has a wife and will start a new life at Aston Villa’s women’s team as she penned the contract with them on January 9.
Lucy Staniforth Family Life
Staniforth comes from a family with a connection to football since the 70s.
The 30-year-old football player Staniforth was born and raised in York, England, with two brothers, Thomas and James.
Her father, Gordon Staniforth, is a former football player and coach.
Gordon, a striker, played for seven different teams in his 12 years footballing career, notably known for playing for York City and Carlisle United. He made 463 appearances and scored 101 goals.
Among her two brothers, her older brother, Tom Staniforth, who was 12 years older than her, was also a football player.
Tom was a player for Sheffield United, but his career was in doubt as he suffered from arthritis.
A young lad, Tom, at 20, started drinking heavily after he was diagnosed with the disease. In 2001, Tom suddenly collapsed on a night out in York and passed away on that very night. It was later reported that Tom had used ecstasy, which triggered his brain to swell.
As a kid, Lucy’s mum would take her to watch all her brother’s games where her affection for sports began. Lucy’s mother seems to have married another man named Michael later on in her life.
The football player had shared the photo of her step-dad on her Instagram handle as she shared the news of Michael’s demise. She thanked him for raising her as his child and cheering her on when she took on the football pitch.
At 30, Lucy is looking to start a new journey with her wife, Laura.
