Margueritte Aozasa Husband Mykell Bates Was A Former Santa Clara Assistant Coach

Margueritte Aozasa husband Mykell Bates married the head coach in 2021 at The Lighthouse at Glen Cove Marina. 

Margueritte and Mykell have spent 11 joyful months as a married couple, and they will mark their 1st wedding anniversary on the 18th of December 2022, a few days from today.

Furthermore, the power couple didn't jump into exchanging wedding vows after spending some time. They spent seven years together, dating and knowing each other before committing to spending eternity together.

Thus, Aozasa and Bates have been through many highs and lows. Yet, they have always been there for one another in their better and worse. Their love, trust, faith, and communication have helped them grow together personally and professionally.

Margueritte Aozasa And Mykell Bates Relationship Timeline

The spark between Margueritte Aozasa and Mykell Bates started at a Co-Ed Team on the 6th of November, 2014.

At that time, the head coach had an errant header and 14 stitches, and that was when her spouse realized the real potential of their relationship. They became close and started hanging out with each other.

The couple went on a week-long cruise to Mexico after a year in 2015, and the trip strengthened their bond. Likewise, they attended many concerts and spent a lot of time taking pictures to share the memories with their kids in the future.

Aozasa and Bates also attended Champions League Final in 2017. They also grew in their professional lives while having the best time throughout their lives. The pair shared with The Knot that couples who coach together stay together.

Moreover, Mykell, a true Drake fan (a renowned Canadian rapper and singer), proposed to his longtime girlfriend with a ring on her pinky finger on the 3rd of July 2020. Then they eventually walked down the aisle two years after their engagement, on the 18th of December 2021.

Mykell Bates is a youth soccer coach and currently works with the LAFC academy.

A graduate of Santa Clara University, Mykell served as the college's volunteer assistant for a year and was named the men's soccer assistant coach in January 2019.

Likewise, he also worked at the Mountain View Los Altos Soccer Club since 2013 and trained the U-17 Silicon Valley Soccer Academy. The coach has been the founder and trainer at Legacy Soccer since 2015, per his LinkedIn profile.

Bates was also an athlete in his prime, having spent a four-year standout career at Santa Clara. As a college athlete, he was a two-time captain on the 2010 and 2011 squads, and he also captained the U.S. Under-17 Men's National Team in 2007. 

Similarly, Margueritte was also a four-year starter at Santa Clara University and coached the Mountain View-Los Altos Soccer Club for years. Moreover, Aozasa got assigned as the 6th head coach in UCLA women's soccer history in December 2021, the same month she married her man.
