Barbara Cash was born to Ukrainian and Polish parents. Matty was able to represent England thanks to his mother.
Barbara's father Ryszard is from Ukraine and her mother, Janina, is from Poland. Her father was forced into a work camp in Siberia in 1940 along with his mother and two sisters. In August 1941, her father was released along with thousands of Polish families.
Barbara's family traveled to Iran, India and Tanganyika in hopes of building a new life. They went to Europe in 1948 and settled in Liverpool. Barabara's father was only 12 years old at the time. Her father was 28 years old when he met a Polish woman in 1964. Barbara's mother was visiting her sister in Ealing.

Barbara's parents fell in love and wed, but they struggled to adjust to life in a new country because they were from different nations.
Thirty-three years after meeting each other, his parents welcomed him into the world in 1997.
Due to political unrest, Barbara's middle-class family also experienced more hardship during her formative years. Despite this, Barbara now leads a respectable life in Poland with her family.
