Nathaniel Hackett started his coaching career as an assistant linebackers coach at U.C. Davis, where he completed his graduation. Then, he was hired by Stanford University to work as an assistant to the offensive and defensive coordinators.

Later, he took on the roles of recruitment coordinator and specialized coach. Under the leadership of head coach Jon Gruden, Hackett started his NFL career in 2006 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Before heading to the Buffalo Bills, where he played the same position for the 2008 and 2009 seasons, he stayed there for two years.

Nathaniel began 2010 with a big challenge as he joined Syracuse that year as head coach Doug Marrone's quarterback and tight ends coach. When the Buffalo Bills hired Marrone as their head coach in 2013, he followed him to Buffalo because he enjoyed working with Marrone.

After the 2014 campaign, head coach Marrone chose to end his relationship with the Bills. He then accepted a position as the offensive line and assistant head coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In 2016, Hackett was appointed as Marrone's temporary offensive coordinator following his promotion to interim head coach. Hackett was once more with him.

In January 2017, Hackett was appointed to the job formally. However, the team could not repeat its success the following year and began the campaign with a 3-8 record. Following the Jaguars' loss to the Buffalo Bills in November of 2018, Hackett was subsequently fired by Marrone.

Hackett was taken aback by the action, but he rapidly recovered. Under the leadership of head coach Matt LaFleur, he was hired by the Green Bay Packers in January 2019 as their offensive coordinator. Hackett stayed with the Packers for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Later he was appointed as the Denver Broncos head coach in January 2022. 

The Hackett couple is blessed in their life with a cute little family of 6. They are parents to 4 kids; Harrison, London, Briar, and Everly. They are very close to their children, and the whole family could be spotted together to witness the football game when Nathaniel steps up on the field and instructs his players.

They aren't seen in public often and have chosen to stay isolated from the media or general people. By the looks of it, non of those accounts seem to be operated by Nathaniel, as one account mentioned that it is a parody and is just acting like Hackett himself is handling it. At the same time, the other also seems fake as it has only 5k followers and is not verified. 

Many were shocked by how Nathaniel Hackett's first game as the Broncos' new head coach ended. The Broncos were behind 17-16 with time running out in the team's Monday Night Football contest against the Seahawks. They failed to win the match with just a point difference, and his controversial decision during the game made the fans even more furious toward him.

With 1:11 remaining, Russel Wilson, Denver's quarterback, converted a third-and-14 into a fourth-and-5 while still possessing two timeouts by completing a short pass to Javonte Williams for nine yards. This moved Denver to the Seahawks' 46-yard line. Hackett decided not to let his offence, which included Wilson, the star of their big offseason trade, go for the first down.

He decided to grab the lead instead by reducing the remaining time to 20 seconds, calling a timeout, and using Brandon McManus to attempt a 64-yard field goal. Seattle even gave Hackett a second chance to reconsider his choice after McManus' field goal attempt went wide left, sealing the Seahawks' 17-16 victory.

Pete Carroll, the head coach of the Seahawks, took a timeout to bench McManus before he missed a kick that did not count, but it didn't seem to deter Hackett. Following the game, Hackett's choice was closely examined and heavily contested. Coming  Sunday, Hackett and the Broncos will return to the game again to play a home game against the Texans.
