Paula is one of the two daughters of the Badosa family. She has a little sister, Jana Badosa, who also plays tennis in Spain.

The sisters are believed to spend their childhood in the USA, but during Paula’s early teenage their parents relocated to Spain, and both of the sisters moved to the country with their parents. Paula is very private when talking about the details of her family members. So, there isn’t much information about her younger sister.

However, Jana has followed in the footsteps of her elder sister and is playing competitive tennis in Spain nowadays. She might want to establish a career in it and carry her family’s name to even more considerable heights than her sister has.

Paula was born to her parents, Mireia Gibert and Josep Badosa, in the USA, but they were initially from Spain.

They also wanted their daughter to follow the same profession, but the Badosa sisters had other plans. However, she didn’t know what tennis was until their family moved to Barcelona, Spain, from the USA, when Paula was just seven years old.

Her first introduction to tennis happened at the Club Tennis d’Aro, and afterward, she began playing tennis in professional tournaments. Later, she relocated to Valencia at 14 to advance in tennis. She returned to her parents in Barcelona when she was 17.

In her early years, her tennis-loving mother, Mireira, introduced her to the courts. Little Paula aspired to be a model like her parents before considering a professional career. Badosa claims to have spent her youth in affluent circles, where she met several famous people and even took part in a picture session with the Williams sisters.

As mentioned earlier, Paula’s parents are experienced personnel in the field of fashion, and during their careers, they have worked with vast names in fashion, like Armani. They were involved in the art scene in addition to the fashion sector.

They worked, for instance, at the renowned 111 First Street art center in Jersey City in the 1990s, which was destroyed in 2007 due to a dispute with the developer. This demolition created lots of buzz at the time, and there is even a documentary dedicated to this building that featured Paula and her parents. 

Paula is one of the world’s highest-earning tennis players and has a net worth of $5 Million as of 2022. 

The Spanish tennis player has won around US $5,178,341 as a cash prize throughout her career. Tennis professionals make $1,496,037 annually, making her one of Spain’s highest-earning women tennis players. She has gained many followers throughout her career, and with the help of those followers, she promotes various brands on social media platforms earning cash to fill her income basket.

She also has agreements with companies like Wilson and Nike for collaborations, clothing, and rackets. They pay well to the tennis player; in exchange for that, she promotes the brand on her social media and utilizes their products in her day-to-day activities.

In the past couple of years, her performance on the court has improved tremendously, making her one of the most successful tennis players in recent years. Recently, she reached a world No. 2 singles ranking with the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) on April 25, 2022, and a global No. 124 doubles ranking on the same day. She has three WTA Tour singles championships to her resume.

She reached the quarterfinals in the 2021 French Open, which was her highest Grand Slam achievement. Later that same year, she scored her most significant career victory in the Indian Wells Masters, a WTA 1000 competition.

Paula is unmarried as of 2022 but is in a relationship with her Cuban boyfriend, Juan Betancourt.

 Juan and Paula have been dating since 2021. The two lovers officially announced their romance a while back when they shared a cute photo of themselves standing in New York City’s Times Square. Juan has often been seen cheering his girlfriend on when she plays tennis.

Juan is a professional model who has worked for several modeling agencies worldwide. He has participated in several fashion shows and is represented by VNY Models New York, Fashion Milan, MGM Paris, and ModelWerk Hamburg. Apart from doing shows and events, he has also been featured in world-famous fashion magazines like GQ Brazil, Elle Man Vietnam, and GQ Espana.

Besides being a successful model, he has also worked on multiple movie projects. His most notable performance is in the French film “The Laws of Thermodynamics,” which is accessible on Netflix. 

Badosa was a sharp girl since her childhood who was perfect technically and physically. She won the girls’ singles title at the 2015 French Open and had a junior ranking of as high as No. 8 worldwide. In 2019, she made her grand slam debut, but her performance that season was satisfactory.

However, her second straight career WTA Tour semifinal appearance at the Karlsruhe Open helped her into the top 100 as a professional in 2019. The following year, she advanced as far as the fourth round of the French Open, which was a major, and broke into the top 70.

At the Australian Open in 2022, Badosa achieved her fourth career fourth-round finish at a major, securing her top-five debut.
