Radek Meidl, Petra Kvitova's lover, is not married to her. Although they were engaged in 2015, the couple has broken off their engagement.

In Bilovec, Moravian-Silesian Region, Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic, Petra Kvitova was born to Jiri Kvita, a mayor and former teacher. Jiri Jr., an engineer, and Libor, a teacher, are her two older brothers.

Jiri, her father, taught her how to play tennis. She looked up to Czech-American tennis player Martina Navratilova when she was little.

Kvitova studied in her Moravian hometown of Fulnek until she was 16 when a coach persuaded her to pursue a professional tennis career. David Kotyza served as her coach from November 2008 to January 2016.

On July 9, 2007, Kvitova rose to a career-high position of No. 27 worldwide. Additionally, she accumulated 35-7 and 20-9 in the singles and doubles divisions, respectively.

She participated in just one junior Grand Slam tournament, the 2007 Wimbledon Championships.

Eighth-seeded Kvitova won against Jocelyn Rae and Malena Gordo in singles to reach the round of 16, where she fell to eventual semifinalist Katarzyna Piter in straight sets.

She competed in doubles with Katerina Vankova, a fellow Czech, but they were defeated by Mariana Duque Mario and Michelle Larcher de Brito right away.
