RIP: Jackie Walorski Died In A Car Accident – Husband Dean Swihart And Children

Jackie Walorski, an American politician who has served as Indiana’s 2nd congressional District representative since 2013, was killed in a car accident today. Four other individuals were also hurt.

She belongs to the Republican Party and served as the 21st District’s representative in Indiana’s House of Representatives from 2005 to 2010.

Walorski won the Republican primary for Indiana’s 2nd congressional District in 2010, but Democratic incumbent Joe Donnelly narrowly defeated him in the general election. After Donnelly left his position to compete for the U.S. Senate in 2012, Walorski won the seat.

Jackie Walorski Died In A Car Accident

Specifically, near the junction of State Road 19 and State Road 119, north of Nappanee, four persons were killed in the collision, including 2nd District Representative Jackie Walorski. A crash occurred on Wednesday, August 3, at about 12:30 pm.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, the motorist was murdered as she was traveling northbound on State Road 19. The sheriff’s office reported that two passengers in the northbound car died.

The driver of the northbound car was critically injured and transported by EMS to Elkhart General Hospital; he later passed away.

Following the retirement of then-Republican State Representative Richard Mangus in 2004, Walorski ran for a seat in the Indiana House of Representatives. The suburban region between South Bend and Elkhart was included in Indiana’s 2nd District, for which she ran.

Walorski beat Democrat Carl H. Kaser by a margin of 64 to 36 percent. With 53% of the vote, she was elected to a second term in 2006. She won an uncontested third term in 2008.

Police Release Information About Jackie Walorski Accident

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash on SR 19 south of SR 119 on August 3, 2022, at about 12:32 pm. I was left of center; a northbound passenger automobile collided with a southbound sport utility vehicle.

The three passengers in the southbound car, Jackie Walorski, 58, of Elkhart, Indiana, Zachery Potts, 27, of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Emma Thomson, 28, of Washington, DC, all perished as a consequence of their wounds.

Edith Schmucker, 56, of Nappanee, Indiana, was the only occupant of the northbound car, and she was declared dead at the site. The inquiry is being carried out by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office.

Husband Of Jackie Walorski Heartbroken After Her Death

Dean Swihart, a Mishawaka schoolteacher who Walorski wed in 1995, is devastated by the passing of his wife. She attends South Gate Church, a South Bend Assemblies of God megachurch, and lives in Jimtown, an unincorporated suburb west of Elkhart.

Walorski was born in South Bend, Indiana, on August 17, 1963, and grew up in the city’s Gilmer Park area with her two elder brothers. Her father, Raymond B. Walorski, was a firefighter who also ran an appliance store, and her mother, Martha C, worked as a meat cutter at a nearby supermarket.

She went to Hay Elementary School when she was younger and graduated from Riley High School in 1981. She attended Liberty Baptist College from 1981 to 1983 before earning her Bachelor of Arts in communications and public administration from Taylor University in 1985.
