Rugby has been a massive part of the McConnochies as Ruaridh’s dad used to play it in college. Similarly, the Lambeth born has also established himself as one of the best players in this sport.

Ruaridh is an English-born Scottish rugby union player. He played on the Rugby Sevens squad that took home the silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and is a full England international. He made his international debut in September 2019 against Italy at St. James’s Park.

In addition, he was a vital player in England’s victory in the 2016 Cape Town Olympics for the gold medal.

The London native agreed to a professional deal with premier English team Bath for the 2018–19 Aviva Premiership season on January 31, 2018. The 31-year-old player was a member of the Scotland team that competed in the 2023 Six Nations Championship in January 2023.

Ruaridh McConnochie parents Seonaid and Rennie McConnochie are native to Scotland. Seonaid and Rennie raised three kids.

His father, Rennie, was born and raised in Glasgow, while his mother, Seonaid, is from Edinburgh. Seonaid grew up near BT Murrayfield Stadium, a Rugby stadium located in the Murrayfield area of Edinburgh. So naturally, they have been passionate about Rugby and supported Scotland’s national team.

The couple was not the happiest when Ruadidh chose to play for England’s national team. McConnochie was eligible to compete for Scotland in international competition since his family was Scottish, but he decided to represent England instead because he was born in London. The 31-year-old player jokingly says, “They’ve not disowned me yet.”

When the London native played Scotland in Dubai, there was some tension. Rennie became overly excited after Ruaridh’s corner goal, shouting that it was terrific, but his English son had just eliminated Scotland! The player’s dad jokingly said he won’t ever be allowed into Scotland again!

The folks are indeed happy after their son was selected on the Scotland squad for the 2023 Six Nations Championship.

Although his folks were associated with the game, they rose in prominence only after Ruaridh made significant progress in the sport.

According to the Dailymail, his father is very proud of his kids. A photograph on Rennie’s refrigerator marks the time when the three brothers joined hands to play for Cranbrook.

His mother has preferred to remain out of social media, while his father is active on Instagram under the username @elainemcconnochie with nearly three hundred followers. His bio states that he lives and relocates between Perthshire and New York. He has kept his account private, with 813 posts at the time of this writing.
