Sarah Wilkes Husband Mick Lizmore Is A Head Coach At National Wheelchair Curling Team

Sarah Wilkes husband Mick Lizmore is a wheelchair curling head coach from Alberta. Sarah and Mick got married on July 6, 2019. 

Mick and Sarah are known to the world as a famous curling couple. Mick has been coaching the National Wheelchair Curling Team since 2019.

Speaking of their success, Wilkes won the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts with Team Chelsea Carey. She also plays as a second for Team Rachel Homan. At the same time, her partner, Lizmore, is busy coaching the Canadian Wheelchair Curling Team.

Sarah Wilkes husband Mick Lizmore is a curling Head Coach and Performance Consultant.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Lizmore joined the Curling Canada team in 2019. Mick is a graduate of the University of Alberta who passed out with a psychology degree.

Before starting coaching, Mick had a prodigious career as a curler. He started his career in Ontario, joining the Jake Higgs team in 2008 as a lead. His career in Alberta earned him many medals, including the 2012 CIS/CCA Curling Championships, Red Deer Curling Classic, and the 2013 Boston Pizza Cup.

With Parker Konschuh, Nathan Connolly, and Carter Lautner, Lizmore established his rink in 2014. The team qualified for the 2015 Boston Pizza Cup playoffs and went on to win the Shamrock Shotgun World Curling Tour.

Mick won the 2016 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship with his girlfriend, Sarah. He moved into coaching after his retirement.

Lizmore joined the wheelchair national curling team in the year 2019 as an assistant coach and consultant. She won titles at the Canadian University and Canadian Mixed Curling Championships. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, in May 2020, he was appointed head coach.

In September 2022, Mick reconnected with the para-sport as a wheelchair curling coach. He guided Canada to its fifth consecutive Paralympic medal in Beijing.

He took over one of Canada’s most successful wheelchair curling teams in Paralympic Games history. He recently guided the group to another bronze medal.

Sarah and Mick Married Life

Sarah and Mick decided to take their wedding vows on July 6, 2019. 

The Candian couple’s romance started out playing curling together as a teammate. In 2016, they were part of a 2016 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship winning team. They, however, started hanging out in 2015 as a couple alongside Brad Thiessen and Alison Kotylak.

As quoted on Curlingdayincanada.ca, Wilkes has said about her partner: “To have that kind of support, to be side by side with your closest friends on the other side of the globe playing the best of the best. It was really special.”

She continued: “Later that same year, Micky and I got engaged. So, as you can imagine, with memories like those and countless more ahead – curling has always felt like so much more than just ‘a sport’.”

Sarah accepted her best friend’s proposal on January 2, 2018, on Christmas day. She had posted a funny picture of them with the caption: “Well, we are back in Edmonton after a fantastic Christmas at home! I had the best surprise when I got to say yes to marrying my best friend!”

Five months after their engagement, the lovebirds took their engagement photos. Sarah has shared a series of photos from their shoot at the Scarborough Bluffs.

On February 21, 2022, Sarah posted a family photo of her from her wedding day. The photo contained more than 20 members, including Sarah and Mike. Similarly, she shared her pictures of the ceremony at the Distillery District on July 7, 2019.
