Star Rugby player Stacey Fluhler got ‘Fluhler’ as her last name after Ricky Fluhler became her husband in December 2019.
Stacey played rugby for her nation New Zealand and was a part of Newzealand national team in the recent world cup, helping them become the champion.
New Zealand became the world champion for the fifth time by winning the Woman’s Rugby World Cup 2022, where they defeated England in a thrilling final match, the score of (34-31). England was leading until the first 50 minutes of the match, but the table got turned later.
Stacey didn’t start for the team but entered late in the first half and became a match-winning factor after a great offload from the center helped replacement wing Ayesha Leti-I’iga to score in the final eight minutes remaining.

Stacey and Ricky have nine year of the age difference. At the time of Marriage, Stacey was 24 years old, whereas Rickey Fluhler was already 33. Stacey said that when they asked each other age, she was like, “oh hell no.”

They got married after being in a relationship with each other. They first met on a blind date, where they got to know each other in detail for the first time. They both got hooked up with each other. Ricky said that her smile got him, and her talking was attractive and beautiful.
Ricky stepped forward and decided to propose to her for marriage. He was with Stacey’s family when he proposed to her. Before that, he talked with her father to take permission where father replied with a big yes. He prepared dinner for the family, and inside the cake was a ring. Stacey cried when she got the ring and accepted the proposal with a yes.
After the proposal, they decided to marry their parents at Blueberry Farm. It was just some days after Christmas. There were 180 guests, some of whom were Stacey’s rugby teammates. The couples were spotted in tears during the ceremony. They completed their ritual with a romantic sun-kissed ceremony.

Stacey and Rickey have some mutual friends who are the reason for their meetup.
Rickey said he heard Stacey’s brother Beaudein Wakka’s name, who was a rugby union player. But he said that he didn’t know anything about Stacey.
They met each other and started to hang out with each other on green tea dates all over Hamilton’s cafes. They learned about their age gap and cultural difference where Rickey was a European. They hesitated because of these two factors but later on, things went best for them.

The reason why they got hooked on each other is probably that they are both sports lovers. Ricky also played rugby when he was in his college but not professionally like Stacey. The fact that Rickey was not interested in women’s rugby changed after he met her. He started to enjoy it, and his love for rugby grew.
After some time, Rickey became a supportive boyfriend. He started to support her on the field and also outside the field. He even went to a commonwealth game to support Stacey together with Stacey’s family, where she won the match. He already created a great bond with them.

Ricky Fluhler has been an Account Manager for three years in Envirowaste in Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand.
He did his bachelor’s in marketing and finance major from the University of Waikato and a diploma in teaching(primary level) from the same university.

His starting job was also as an Account Manager for Cognet Ltd in 2010. He was also a Business Development Manager at CIPD for 1.6 years. He started to teach at the primary level. He was a primary teacher for two years at Puketaha School.
